Try to setup router manually.

you might have put in the wrong password or user id check to make sure you have put these in correctly first make sure the caps lock is on/off what ever applies to your user and password id that you provided to your ISP
also
make sure your routers settings are correct ie:password user name, firewall settings to allow your internet to connect also test the lead/s whether usb or ethernet you might check your modem first to make sure that you are getting a connection

HOW DO I GET TO MY SETTING i WANT TO CHANGE THE UPNP... FORWARD THE PORT... i TRIED TYPING THE 198....IN THE ADDRESS BLOCK....AND ALSO THE ROUTER STILL DID NOT COME UP

There should be an automated port forwarding setup where you dont need to type in any IPs, but only the port(s) you want forwarded. also, the local IP isnt 198... but 192.168.1.x
To do this setup you'll need to go to the router's default page which should be sometihng like 191.168.1.x, you'll find this IP either on the bottom of the router, or in the router's documentation. Just type in this IP in your browser's Address bar and find the Port Forwarding page. Consult the router's documentation if you cant find it.

Trying to install my belkin router

Is your computer connected to the router with the cable ?
For the initial set up of the router , you will need to connect the computer to the router . Make sure that there is not a static IP address on the Local area connection.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.

Trouble setting up router

Make sure it is not a cross-over cable, and unplug the Ethernet cord at both ends and then re-connect. Also try a different cord. If you are doing this wireless I would recommend you using an Ethernet cord. You could also push in the little reset button on the back of the router for 45 seconds and then unplug the router then plug it back in and start over with the CD.

LAP TOP CAN NOT GET ON INTERNET. NETGEAR WGT624.

1.) Check if you put static ip on your NIC. If not, then you are DHCP.

2.) Do some Command Line Interface at CMD.

a.) Start > Run > CMD
b.) ipconfig /all
d.) Try to release the ip by typing this command: ipconfig /release
c.) Then, renew : ipconfig /renew

try to flush your dns, by typing these:

ipconfig /flushdns

and register again your dns by typing these:

ipconfig /registerdns

If this solution does not correct your problem, try to reset your Netgear, by the way, do you put WPA on your wireless network?

Hit me back..
