Acer 5920 external speakers problem

To have a better sound while watching a movie with others I bought external speakers. Problem is nothing pops up when I connect them. I already updated Realtek to latest version 6.0.6000.16386. What else could I try?
Thank you for helping.

I expect a recognition of the laptop that I have connected external speakers so that I can switch the sound to them. But it seems that it's ignoring.

Actually I'm not using Realtek sound manager. I tried to install it but an error saying "Rtkvac.sys not found" occured.
Maybe there is an interference of the windows program with the Acer eManagement?

Did you buy the speakers for computer using?

If not buy a USB audio output interface to drive the speakers.

In the realtek sound manager window go to the audio I/O tab and there in the analog section click on settings
( realtek sound manager > audio I/O > analog > sttings )
a new window will come up where you can click on the check box for "enable auto pop up dialog....."

hope this would solve the problem

I was able to solve this by downloading the REALTEK R2.17 driver directly from the the REALTEK download page and installing it:

No it recognizes the mic when inserted on the frontal jack and let it work.

It just recently began to malfunction and the music and/or movies always sound staticky. I bought it in July of this year for college and have never had problems like this before.

If you have a external speaker try to connect the external speaker and check how the sound works on the external one.. If it works well then the internal speakers have gone bad.. Contact the computer manufacturer to replace them.. If the sound plays scratchy in the external on then unistall the drivers from the device manager and reinstall a fresh copy from the support website of the computer manufacturer.. If you dont have a external speaker better reinstall drivers if the issue is not fixed contact the computer manufacturer....

I'm a student training to be a tech. Today I'm working on an Acer Aspire 5920 series and it's not taking power at all. No LEDs flash...nothing. While troubleshooting it I noticed an audible *popping*...

The DC jack, where you plug the power adapter cable, might be loose or defective, & needs to be either re-soldered or replaced.
In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard taken out. Also, the motherboard needs to be checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

I have the Netbook and just bought an external DVD so I can watch movies on my flight to England.... Movies play fine, but there is no sound!

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager

Click [+] next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, double-click the drive in question.
In Properties tab, make sure the box is ticked next to
Enable Digital CD-Audio for this Device

Hopefully you'll have sound after this.

Problem in external speaker when connected to acer 5738Z LAPTOP

The audio jack on the laptop is for headphones and most likely cannot it cannot deliver sufficient power to drive unpowered speakers.
Check the audio jack with headphones, if the volume setting is high and you still can't get sounds from the headphone and the mute switch is not selected then the audio amp in the laptop is faulty.

Volume low when watching dvd

Not much you can do about this. The movie industry sets movies to low volume when recording for better sound. They expect you to have the equipment to boost the sound. This cuts down on their outside noise. Only solution for this is to install external speakers as I have done for my movie or TV playing (I installed a TV adapter so I could hook up a projector and display the BIG game outside) but as you say, we couldn't hear it until I hooked up external speakers.

Sound problem - Acer Aspire 5920

I assume you are using Windows Vista as ships with Aspire 5920's. Try the following to make sure that Windows is using the correct output options:
  1. Click on the Start Menu and go to Control Panel
  2. From Control Panel click on Hardware and Sound
  3. Click on the heading Sound and the sound configuration box will appear.
  4. The first tab is called Playback and allows you to select a playback device.  You should find your external speakers and internal speakers listed.
  5. Click the external speakers and then click on the "set default" button to make sure that the sound is played back through those instead of your internals.
