BOTH TRIPS WEAR IT DIED IT WAS REALLY ROUGH WOULD WATER GETTING IN TO MOTOR MAKE THIS HAPPEN
Passably the cover on you motor should stop water from getting in or you got old fuel, or bought bad fuel if possible water in fuel tank buy a bottle of heat this will remove water from fuel tank, replace fuel filter if one or drain moisture trap on engine fuel system.

Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.

I have a 85 coupe,the pumps are notorous for going out.Best bet is empty the whole tank.the pump .Is easy to pull its under the filler door.1 make sure its not your security system shutting off
your injectors .2 turn key in on poss and open gas door you should hear the motor.If not
disconnect batt and remove.be car e you dont lose the screen.once out dry off and hook up to any batt to check.there only 30 bucks but make sure you ground it out right and dont turn it on in a dry tank ,you will burn it out.

run a scan tool on it and make sure there are no codes, if there is codes address those problems first, if no codes.. next time it won't start check for fuel preasure. it is probably a fuel pump getting ready to go out or they may be a large amount of something other than gas clogging the pick-up sock at bottom of fuel pump.

Most large parts stores read codes free. Most common cause is crank sensor, but I'd have code checked before buying anything.
