Question about HP Pavilion ze2000 Notebook

Video Display Problem

Hi Volto,

The vertical left 1/5th of my HP ze2000 laptop screen suddenly grayed. I can see the underlying windows and text just fine. It looks like a translucent 2" vertical strip of gray was overlayed on top of the picture. The rest of the screen looks as normal as ever. I hooked up an external display and it works just fine. I took a screen shot and the grey area does not show. Could this be a software problem? I was saving/loading a file in Audacity when the problem occurred. I was also typing on the keyboard and wonder if I could have accidentally pressed some keys that caused this. I made a complete virus and spyware check and nothing was found. I disconnected the video display cable and reconnnected it, but nothing changed.

Could the inverter cause a partial screen problem or would it affect the whole screen? If I need to replace a part I plan to do so myself so I would like to figure out whether I need an inverter or the whole screen.

Also where would I get instructions to replace the inverter? The HP repair manual only lists how to replace the display?

Thanks,
Nathen

Thats because its all onboard and you have to replace the mother board. Its probably the screen, not the video card seeing as how external displays work fine.

Most likely over heating or damage to the screens data ribbon that connects to the board is causing the issue.

Or someon put something to heavy on the lid.

remove the keyboard and underneaith should be the push in ribbon connector that attaches the monitor to the system board.

try removeing and re-connecting it.

Make sure the laptop is off of course.

While your in there, use some compressed air to clear out any dust around the CPU and Fans and anywhere else.

Most likely its a gonner, try finding a new or used one on ebay ans ordering from the manufacturer is usually very expensive.

Good luck

Hook a monitor to the video output, if the system is the same the problem is in the video graphics chip on the motherboard.

Audio driver for hp pavilion ze2000

This Link
seems to provide the best thorough approach to getting those drivers installed & working.

However, someone claims, on this forum page(last post on the page) that all you need to do is use the "windows online driver search" function, and it will handle all of the messy work of locating, downloading & installing.

I hope that helps.

I have an hp ze2000. I hooked it up to an external monitor. When I unhooked it and restarted it my laptop screen now stays blank. Who knows the answer to this?

I think you have to reset through setup F12 or is it F8 restart and push one or the other, then locate menu for screen click to enable.

Haven't come across this before. Best I can suggest?

HI,

If your laptop won't start then remove the battery from the back and just connect your Laptop with the power cord and press hold then power button for 1min.This will help you fix the issue.Incase your laptop turns on but takes lots of time to show the desktop screen then you will have to repair the windows with the recovery disc given with your laptop.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Hi, that sounds like the integerated video graphics is going bad and it's not actually the screen. the zd7000's were known for video graphics failure. there was a lawsuit filed against hp for the zd models about a year ago to get a free motherboard replacement because of the video issue but it's too late to send it in now for the free repair. the zd models don't have a replacable video card in them like most laptops which the only way to fix the problem ould be to purchase another motherboard, you could try ebay but they're not that cheap. Screen problem

Sure, To find out if it is a Display issue or not,
you can connect an external Monitor to the Notebook.
If you see similar display issues then The issue may be fixable otherwise you will have to Replace the Display of your Notebook.

Play s-video out of HP laptop Pavalion ze2000

If you look at your "F" keys, one of them will have a pic of a little monitor., and a little laptop on it.

Plug in the svideo, hold the "FN" key (usually located to the lower left of the keyboard somewhere) and hit the "F" key with the little monitors on it.

This switches the output from the laptops display to an external display.
