Automatic camera I have a W850i.. hte moment i unlock the phone, it goes into camera mode and begins clicking pictures on its own even though no buttons are pressed. This seems to start and stop automatically. Its happens frequently but at random.

The camera buttons on the side are jammed down. This happens with the W850i and is a design fault. The reason you notice it randomly is because your hand will often brush off the camera buttons which are now so sensitive that the lightest touch will set them off. Same happened with mine but instead it switched the phone off when they were touched... When I realised, I popped the buttons out and stayed away from them as you can still take pictures using the touch screen :) I have the official repair document on the phone and it's easy to remove / replace the side pad but why bother. If it's contract then it's a well known problem and you should return but not accept the same model as a replacement as it will fail also. If return is not an option, then remove the side button and the phone is otherwise quite robust.

Camera won,t save picture even though there is flash & shutter sound

Sony Ericsson phones do not have a a specific "Save" button as such. When you click a photo , it automatically gets saved. They do have a specific "Delete" option though, be careful not to press that. Click a photo, n then exit the camera function.Check to see if the photo has been saved .

Camera goes to sleep too quickly...is there a way to adjust?

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation after 3 minutes when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover is open and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode. Operate the zoom button or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left on for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.

Shooting modes

What is the best situation to use each of the shooting modes? The shooting modes are described as follows: Program Auto (Factory default setting) Program Auto mode is used for regular photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural color balance. Other functions, such as the flash mode and metering, can be adjusted manually. Portrait Portrait mode is suitable for taking a portrait-style picture of a person. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Landscape + Portrait Landscape + Portrait mode is suitable for taking photos which include both your subject and the landscape. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Landscape Landscape mode is suitable for taking pictures of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Night scene Night scene mode is suitable for shooting pictures in the evening or at night. The camera sets a slower shutter speed than is used in normal shooting. If you take a picture of a street at night in any other mode, the lack of brightness will result in a dark picture with only dots of light showing. In this mode, the true appearance of the street is captured. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. If you use the flash, you can take pictures of both your subject and the night background. Self-portrait Self-portrait mode enables you to take a picture of yourself while holding the camera. Point the lens towards yourself, and the focus will be locked on you. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. The zoom is fixed in the wide position and cannot be changed. QuickTime Movie QuickTime Movie mode lets you record movies with sound. The focus and zoom are locked. If the distance to the subject changes, the focus may be compromised.
