Need recovery disc Compaq Presario SR1500NX

It's easy to get the Restoration Disk/s for an HP computer, Margaret.

May be able to guide you on here with repairing your computer also, and leave the 'GEEKS' at Best Buy to twiddle their thumbs, and make money off of someone else.

On the back of your Compaq Presario SR1500NX Desktop PC, is a white sticker.

Service Tag

You need to write down the Serial Number, to give to the nice representative on the phone, for HP Support.

(ONLY give out to an authorized HP representative. Do NOT post on a world-wide forum such as this)

S/N = Serial Number

In the USA call the toll free phone number - 1-800- 474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Restoration Disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

Not in the USA?
Use HP Support Worldwide,

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-information/summary/ww-support.html

When you receive the Restoration Disk/s, turn the computer on, put the disk in the optical drive's tray. (CD/DVD Drive)

Drive closed let the disk load.
WHEN asked click on - Repair (Non-Destructive Installation)

This will repair the basic Windows files.

IF, you have a virus, AND cannot get rid of it, you'll have to take the computer back to Day 1, when it came from the factory.

This will be a Full Install. (Destructive Installation)

NOTE*
ALL of your personal information, AND any programs you have installed, will be GONE!

The computer will be back to Day 1 from the factory, and before you put anything on it.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

I have a Dell Dimension 3000. Recently we have had some problems with it. I turn on the computer, it goes to a black screen and ask for a password. I even took the battery out and waited for over an...

You might try removing the CMOS battery on the motherboard for at least 10-15 minutes to see if that will reset or clear the bios. You need to remove it for that long to dischartge the capacitors, Another thing that may work is:

Turn the computer on
Press F2 to enter the BIOS ( a grey screen should come up)
Turn on caps lock, scroll lock and num lock on your keybord
Press Alt +E then Alt +F then Alt +B

If this fixes your problem, please take a moment to rate this answer. Anything less than a 4 thumbs up is essentially a negative rating. I don't think people seeking help here are aware of that, but that's how the rating system works.

BIOS SETTING IS NO ADMINISTRATOR

i think that dee is refering to a password that is not known if that is true then here is what yo will need to do turn off the computer and remove the side cover locate the bios jumpers you will notice that there are 3 pins and 2 of them are covered by the jumper, now remove the jumper from the pins that are covered and move it down 1 pin now u should have the last 2 poins covered and the top one showing ok now start up the computer and it will boot into the bios screen you will see the password section and just click on it and it will ask you if you want to remove allof the passwords press yes ance this is done it will tell you that you will need to place the jumper pin back in the original position thatt it was in so exit out of there and turn off the computer and replace the jumper back to wherre it was and just restart the computer if the administrator comes up again just press the esc key ok i hope that this will fix your problem ok best regards mike
