Question about HP Pavilion Replacement 200w Micro ATX PS3 Power Supply with Video Connector (PSHPPAVILIONVIDEO) Power Supply

1 Answer

HP PC will not turn on.

We had a friend donate a used HP Pavilion a345c desktop computer to our daugther so she could use it for school. The problem is that when it is plugged in the little green light in the back of the power supply flickers and then stays on but when the on/off button is pushed it will not turn on. Could it be that the power supply is bad or the on/off button? Is it something that I can replace myself? I looked inside and the power supply model is HP-D2527F3R with max power of 250w. I also assume that if it is bad then it needs to replaced with the same wattage? Any other suggestions are welcome. Thank you very much for your help. Kevin

It sounds that the Power supply Unit is faulty and needs replacement. The ATX powersupply is easy to replace. you can do it yourself. Just remember how you take it out is how you're gonna install a new one back, remember where the connectors go on the mother board. Remove PC from power mains before you work on the PC. Before you touch the inside of the PC just touch the frame of the PC to ground your self to avoid static. Good luck.

Green light flashes on the back of my HP Pavilion 1270 when I connect the power cable but the desktop doesn't start up ( totally dead) . I assume it is the power supply , so I can buy a new one, but how...

It sounds like the power has failed or is failing. This link will take you to the HP site:
You can try to un-plug the main power connection to the motherboard and then re-connect it. BE SURE THAT THE COMPUTER POWER CORD IS DISCONNECTED! If that fails, you will need to replace the power supply as indicated on the HP site. The last one I bought was about $35.00.
Good luck and please let me know how it works out for you.

The switch mode power supply in the desktop computer has failed. Most likely the capacitors in the power has exploded.
You need to open the desktop computer and remove the old power supply and replace it with a new one. Take the old power supply with you to your friendly computer shop and get a replacement power supply with the same wattage or greater wattage.

My hp a345c will not turn on. It has a flashing

So basically you cannot get the pc to POST. Meaning you have just a black screen when you power on the pc, right?

First off, did you attempt to update BIOS before this happened. 90% of the time this is caused by a corrupt bios.

If you are the victim of a bad BIOS flash, don't freak there are some options. First off, if the computer (or motherboard) is still under warranty the Computer (or motherboard) can be sent to the Vendor for a BIOS reprogramming.
If you are a DIY PCbuilder and the warranty is expired you can take out the bios chip andsent it someone who reprograms BIOS chips or you can buy a brand newchip form them. I will show you my people.***angelb***

For non-BIOS issues:

If you did not try to update BIOS before the problem started then try these troubleshooting steps.

1.Full power down. Unplug the power cord from the Power supply. Then holddown the pc power button (this discharges any residual power in thecapacitors).

2. Open the case and reseat the graphics card, hard drive, and RAM.

3.Take out one of the RAM sticks if there is 2 or more. Swap the RAMsticks in different RAM slots. Try one stick at a time to see if youcan get the PC to boot. If this works, then the remaining ram sticksare damaged.

4. Set the Cmos jumper to clear. Power up the pc.Power down the PC. Set the Cmos jumper back to normal position, powerup the PC.

5. Unplug and replug all the power supply cables.

6.Check the powersupply function. Either by a powersupply voltage checker(20-25 dollars at local PC shop), get the supply tested at a PC shop(usually a free service), put the powersupply in a different pc, or trya different powersupply in the problem computer.

Ifthe Powersupply checks out ok, then you will have to do a process ofelimination to find out what part or parts are the culprit of theNo-Boot.

Start by pulling all the ram sticks if you have not already. This is the easiest components to check and usually a culprit.

Takeout one of the RAM sticks if there is 2 or more. Swap the RAM sticks indifferent RAM slots. Try one stick at a time to see if you can get thePC to boot. If this works, then the remaining ram sticks are damaged.

If it is not the RAM, you have to continue removing items such as sound cards, un-plugging hard drives and optical drives, other PCI cards. Do this one at a time until you find the culprit. If aPOST screen, meaning you can see Anything from the PC brand name toMotherboard brand name appearing on the screen.

No sound on my hp desktop

First and make sure you plugged the speakers into the correct port in the back of the computer. Green port is normally the port you want to plug into. 9 times out of 10 this is the issue. Next, try reinstalling the driver, by going to HP web site and downloading the most current driver. If you don't feel comfortable doing so, I am sure they have a return policy for repairs done incorrectly.
