Hi, I have formatted the SATA hard drive in my Gateway GT 5408 with Intel motherboard D945GCFG1. I want to load XP pro instead of the original Vista which was on it. Do I need to change the Bios or install...

No, you do not need to install a new driver as long as that is the same sata hard disk tha used to work in your Gateway computer. Just boot into your windows xp installation cd and let the setup continue.

Should you need further assistance, please let me know.

You may want to check the hard drive - sounds like it may be starting to fail. When it reaches the point of not continuing does it start to click? If you hear clicking then the drive is having issues and its time for a new one.

Dell dimension 4300s want to move hard drive to a new machine

You can move it but you have to remember that its going to have different hardware then your dell 4300 so it might require you to install drivers for the hardware that windows XP pro can't recognize. Keep that in mind so as long as you know where to go to get drivers for the hardware in that other machine, it won't be a problem.

I have a toshiba satellite a205-5000 laptop it came with Vista, I want to put XP Pro instead, but it doesn't find the drive when you install. What do I need to do?

Hi, its because its a new laptop, you have a sata hard drive in the laptop which requires sata drivers to install older versions like windows xp, only problem is none of the companys are releasing the drivers to put xp on them, so im afraid your stuck with vista on it. due to the sata hard drive.

All the best

The problem of your laptop is the hard disk type. because acer 5220 laptop is using a SATA hardisk that automatic detected or supported by Vista. But in the windows Xp you need to download the sata driver for windows xp and save it to the floppy drive. In the beginning of windows installation press F6 to install another device or scsi the windows setup search your floppy drive for the sata driver and install it automatically. If you have cannot fix it just contact me i'm willing to help you

Boot Failure

i am assuming you have allowed the bios to detect that there is a different hard drive fitted as it will be looking to boot from an non existent drive. If you have fitted a new HDD with an operating system already on it then you will have to repair windows as its a change in hardware. If you cant get the bios to see the drive then the motherboard has an IDE or Sata connector problem.
