New motherboard GA-p67x-ud3-b3 no video on boot

Got a new motherboard GA-p67x-ud3-b3 , video card gigabyte GTX 550 TI , 750W Corsair modular power supply, 16 gig memory. Just built system, power up and no video. I grabbed an older PCIe video card same thing no video on boot, so I am guess the motherboard PCIe x16 slot must be having an issue? and yes, I did plug in power to the GTX 550 TI

Did you check the bios if it is set to PCiE vid card?

  • alicestars Apr 30, 2012

Kind of hard to "check the bios" when I have NO video. None, Nada, nothing.

  • alicestars May 01, 2012

Miguel - seems like a wasted post answer since there is no solution in your post, just copy and paste from the manual

  • alicestars May 02, 2012

No Beeps, No on board video, so no way to see BIOS, memory, cpu everything seated properly. PSU is good ( 750W ) voltage is good.

Hi,
Check the memory card.
Sounds like your MoBo is not starting up properly, try not to concentrate the problem on the video card, if that MoBo has on board video use that first.Try to get the bios show up first and the system works first. The short buzz/beep on the mobo speaker must be heard first.
Did you hear any beeping sound when you turn on that desktop?
Did you install the processor properly w/ thermal paste?
Check also the monitor if it works fine?
Check the PSU too.
Then tell us what happen then....

Okay, if there is no "beeping" sound on start, try to disconnect the HDD and other hardware, plug in the power on the rail and plug in the mouse keyboard, processor, and cpu fan.

A long beep sound should be heard. To signal that a memory ram is not installed and the MoBo is searching for that hardware.

If there is no long beeping sound, that means your "new" board have some internal problem or the processor is not adequate to use on that MoBo, or try another PSU.

The key for the MoBo's life is the Bios that must appear first.

  1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
    * For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
  2. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8)
    * The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When the PCIEX8 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.
  3. 3 x PCI Express x1 slots
(All PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
  4. 2 x PCI slots

SOURCE: Motherboard is not booting!!!!!

Hi Jay,
Is you're memory installed in the two yellow slots?
Try using only 1 DIMM in DDRII_1 slot.
Page 17 in you're manual. When using only one PCI-E graphics cards you do not need to plug in extra power to the board, as shown on page 19. (Only need this additional 4-pin Molex when running two PCI-E cards).
Check internal connector is plugged in item,
1 ATX_12V_2X (Pg. 23 in you're manual).
(System will not boot without this).
Also item, 2 main power 24-pin Molex cable is securely connected. Chassis Intrusion Header (By default is opened/no jumper). I don't like the CPU getting hot. It shouldn't. Do you have a spare heat sink & fan for you're CPU? Are you 100% the cooling system is running correctly?
Lastly, here is Gigabyte's Qualified Vendors List (QVL), for you're board. Corsair 2GB is not listed.

SOURCE: I need help choosing a video card.

Hi there.
Any PCI Express card will do as long as its DDR2, DDR3 is not supported by your motherboard.
You have a choice between ATI or Nvidia graphics cards and your system should support up to 1GB of graphics memory.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

I have a dell dib75r pinevalley mainboard I need to know whats the max power supply i can apply to this motherboard pls. for graphics card

The stock 305W power supply guarantees 20 to 25W on the +5VSB rails and 150 to 170W on the 3.3v/5V Rails. Many GTX 750 TI now say (300W PSU that can supply 18 AMPS MIN on the 12v rail aka 216W on the 12v rail.

Many EPS 12v power supplies only guarantee 10 to 15W on the +5VSB and 125 to 130W on the 3.3v Rails.

This means you buy the supply and it may not even turn on. If it does it wont work with the 960 card installed.

Buying a power supply is not a single 12v rail and thats the only thing it uses.

There are many users who should have gotten a corsair RM1000 but instead chose an ATX not EPS 12v power supply at 500 to 750W and they have the Solid Amber Light of *****. EPS12v 2.92 for 750W and up guarantees 150W on the 3.3v rail, 20W on the +5vsb rail and 375W on the 12v Rails minimum.
