The hole you speak of should have a threaded cover in it that is used to regulate how much pressure reached the cleaner at the end of the line. If your cap is missing essentially all the water is bypassing the hose and returning to the pool.
The replacement part, should you need it, is called the pressure relief valve. You'll need to know which model you have for certain as the part differs from one unit to the next. If you do indeed have a 380, the number is 91009002 for just the valve or 91009001 for the UWF (Universal Wall Fitting) Connector Assembly.
If none of the parts are missing simply tighten the valve at the hole to increase water flow down to the cleaner.
