PS3 WAS ON HMDI CABLES AT HOME, BUT ON HOLIDAYS ONLY HAVE MULTI AV CABLES TO USE. CAN'T GET IT TO CONNECT. Tried every combination possible. High def digital box is woorking, but when I swap those multi av cables with the ps3 ones, not picture.
Is not possible to swap between hdmi and multi av connections?
Yes it is the ps3 is not reading the change tho so its an easy fix you just need to reset the connections i have done this alot on the front of your ps3 the power button press and hold it for 20 to 30 sec. it will beep a bunch then the connection is reset then try your new connections , the ps is suapose to read that but sometimes it don't it happens.

It is a known problem with some high def connectors not working properly. The following should be checked before concluding there is a problem 1. Ensure you have your TV tuned to the right output station for as your ps3 is connected.(for example you cannot have your ps3 connected to the second set of av ports on your tv and your tv is on av1, it has to be on av2) 2. Cross-check the functionality of your ps3 using the default av cables that come with it so as to know if your cable or console is faulty. 3. Ensure that you high-def cables are properly connected. If all the above prove abortive, you have to see a repairer to check-up your ps3 or tv
PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high-definition gaming console that supports
both standard AV connections and high-resolution connections (such as
HDMI). Most of the older Philips TVs come with a standard AV input.
Newer, flat-panel Philips TVs include standard AV inputs and
high-resolution inputs. To get the best video quality
out of your PS3, using an HDMI connection is recommended if the option
is available. The PS3 does not include an HDMI cable, only a standard AV
Connect the flat end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
Connect the "red," "white" and "yellow" prongs on the
opposite end of the PS3 AV cable into the corresponding "red," "white"
and "yellow" AV inputs on the TV (usually located on the side or in the
Press the "Source" button on the Philips TV remote.
Select the "AV" video display mode.
Turn on the PS3. The PS3 logo will appear on the screen.
However. I´m inclined to think that you did change the input on your TV. So your problem is another, this is what you have to to to reset:
1. Unplug the HDMI cable from both the TV and PS3. 2. Plug in the AV MULTI OUT cable (the red, white, yellow one provided along with the system) to both your PS3 and TV. 3. Set the TV input to the correct one and turn it on. 4. turn on the PS3 with the front button but DON´T release it, keep your finger on it, until you hear a second beep, thats when you release the button, the PS3 will start to identify what it´s connected to and will display it on your TV.
There are certain settings on the PS3 that has to be changed each time that you switch from High Def to AV. You have to plug both cords in and turn the PS3 on and view the screen with the High Def. You have to go to Settings --> Display Settings --> Video Output Settings then follow the instructions. Watch this video and it will help you switch from High Def to AV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBqfeIpKm70&feature=related
I never tried a Ps3 on a standard def tv before but you may need a HDMI cable to connect from the tv to the console and you need a port on the tv for the av cable that comes with the ps3 to plug into the tv from the ps3. An HD tv has everything for the ps3 to run
Maybe your TV is not made for HD from the Sony Console. Try calling Sony Customer support, then your TV's brand Customer support. That will tell you if your TV Model allows the HD from the PS3. Remember though, PS3 Uses Blu-Ray. So you need Blu-Ray for your TV. Hope this helped.
what you can do is use the av cables plug in the white and red into the back of your surround sound system remember you have to adjust your settings on your ps3 so it uses the av cables for sound ps u don't have to disconnect your hdmi
