Question about Pioneer Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a pioneer vsx515-k 6.1 surround receiver that I like very much, and would like to see if I can get it fixed. There was a car accident that ran into a power pole in the neighborhood and knocked out the power while my pioneer receiver was on. And when the power came back on the receiver would no longer turn on. I opened up the case to check for blown fuses and burnt marks anywhere and found everything ok. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I see what looks like 2 or 3 transformers, 1 big and the other little ones. Is there someone in Sacramento who would be able to look at and find why my pioneer vsx-515-k will not turn on? Jeff

While watching TV (all audio ran through my Pioneer VSX-516), the receiver shut off by itself, so I powered it back on. Then it powered off again a couple mins later, and wont power up at all now. I...

Try holding the "advanced surround" and "enter" buttons and see if it turns back on. If it shuts off again, disconnect all speaker wires and try it again. If it stays on, you have a bad speaker or wire. If it still shuts down, the amp is blown and needs to be repaired.

Pioneer receiver vsx-d510 sub not working

Rear Surrounds are not supported on this unit, they would be the 6th and 7th channels in a 7.1 rig. I think you mean Surrounds (channels 4 and 5 in a 5.1 rig).

Lets ponder: How is there any relationship between Surrounds and your separately-amplified Subwoofer? I don't see it, unless you inadvertently chose OFF for the Sub definition when you were in the Speaker selection menus adding the Surrounds. Look again.

I have pioneer receiver Vsx-454 i want to know if this receiver is 5.1 surrounds

Yes. It is 5.1 surround. There are 2 front channels, 1 center channel, and 2 rear channels which comprise the "5" in 5.1 surround. The pre-amp output channel for a sub is the ".5".

Center channel

Just to rule out the easy solutions, have you made sure no settings changed? Make sure that you didn't accidentally turn off any surround sound settings or turn off the center channel in the MCACC setup or the like (I have the VSX-D814, so your receiver should have MCACC as well). If you're sure no settings changed and the center channel should be working according to the receiver, then it would appear that the center channel amp went out in the receiver. You can either get a Pioneer service center to take a look at it, or if you're comfortable with electronics, I believe you can get the parts straight from Pioneer.
