Re: Laptop does not recognize the flash-drive after it's...
There are some reasons why it does not work. 1- You do not have correct drivers for the flash drive, and the computer will not recognize the product. simply update the driver for the flash drive and it will work. To do this go to the flash drive companies site and search for product driver updates 2- You have damaged your flash drive to the point where windows will not even recognize it. To prove this, plug multiple usb devices into the port and test if they work, and test the flash drive in different ports in your laptop and other PCs. If it is still not working, then it is faulty and will not work. Purchase a new one if this is the case

It doesn't work that way. The current driver software that you have installed will not work on another install. Your best bet is is to go Dell website and enter your service tag(serial number) of your computer and download drivers. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?c=&l=&s=bsd?c=us
Do you have a CD that came with your pen drive ? if so you should install the software/drivers before pluging in the preipheral,
Since windows do not recognise the device, you might have to find it on the manufactirer's web page and installt it, What is the company's name and model pf your Pendrive?
Most probably you have a drive letter conflict? If so, right click "My computer" choose "Manage" and locate "Disk management" - here, in the middle lower panel, you should be able to find your usb-memory stick, right click it and assign it a drive letter that you're sure is not in use.
Why did you replace the Power supply. Was the cd working before. Try going to the bios to see if it is being recognised. You made sure the power cord is pluged in good. Try another power cord, Mabe the Power Supply is defected..Just a guess. Or mabe something with the mother board. Try you cd in another computer just to see. I do computer work all the time and there could be a number of problems. You just have to take every avenue to see where the problem lies...Good Luck...Darren
Sounds like its not seeing your hard drive or you have corrupt system files and windows isn't booting.
Press F2 to go into the setup and make sure the hard drive is being recognized. If it is recognized then that means windows is corrupted and you'll need to reinstall your laptop back to factory defaults. If the hard drive is not being recognized in there then you'll need to reseat the hard drive back into the slot.
Then turn the laptop on and press f2 to go back into the setup. If the hard drive is now being recognized then see it if boots into windows. If it doesn't then you'll need to restore your laptop back to factory defaults.
If the BIOS still doesn't show the hard drive then your hard drive is bad and would need to be replaced.
pl state which pc u hav, its motherboard, the operating system and what anti virus is used?

hook it again only after restartin it.
hi there, i to have an iomega external drive, have you tried to disconnect the cable, i.e.. the usb cord and restarting the computer and pluging in the hard drive itself back into the usb slot.....if yes i am thinking, another thing is, wha operating system are you using, if it is vista and you restarted the computer with it pluged in you must restart it without the iomega plugged into the computer, when an external drive is plugged in and the system resatrts vista recognizes it as an internal drive and tries to reboot from it....i am not sure why vista does this, it happens to me and microsoft says it's a protection thing, from hacker hardware components......so all usb things should be replugged into the computer after vista has started with just the regular things...microphones and such are ok....just things with mass storage are what need to be unplugged and replugged into the computer after reboot....hope this helps....shia
