Question about Sony WEGA KE-37XS910 37 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
Ok so it turns on, the sound comes on, but the screen doesn't light up. the little sony light in the bottom middle comes on and then about 15-20 seconds later it goes back into standby. is it the plasma that has actually gone bad or are there video cards that go out on these tvs. ive been reading and appearantly this is a frequent problem. thanks a lot andrew
You most likely have a power supply problem. but the problem may not be the actual power supply. The drive cicuits for the plasma panel can load down the power supply and give you the symptoms that you are having. Without being able to be there and take voltage measurements, I'm afraid I can't narrow it down more than that. My first suspect is that one or more of the sustain boards (the boards that drive the plasma panel) have failed. That would explain the lack of display. It is likely one of 3 boards that has failed, PSU (power supply) logic (the main control board for the set) or DE2 (panel drive board). There is a chance that the panel itself is bad, but that is not the most likely cause of your problem
