Have you tried putting the unlock code in the main directory?  To do this open up notepad or some similar text program and copy the code from the yellow sheet onto the note pad and save it as GMAPPROM.UNL.  Then open "My Computer" and locate the Garmin removable device.  Open the "Garmin" folder and copy that file to it.  Safely remove it from your system and turn it on.

You have a problem only Garmin can solve, unless you remember your pin or go back to where you set the security location

My 3 years old son has unlock my Garmin GPS, and it is asking for PIN now. How can i unlock it? is there any master PIN

No, there is no master PIN but if you take it back to the security location you set when you first installed the GPS, it will automatically unlock and you can then reset the PIN number.

I purchased a used locked Garmin c530 gps and I don't have the pin # to unlock it.Is there a way to unlock it.Thankyou

you will have to ask the previous owner for the lock code. if he doesn't know it, get you money back from him. the only way to unlock a garmin is to know which location the code was first programmed in or by sending it back to garmin with proof of purchase. this is an anti-theft feature.

I tryed updating it but it erase all the maps on the gps

hello there here is a post for you Garmin provides a feature called "Garmin Lock", which allows the GPS owner to assign a (4) digit numeric unlock access code or PIN to their GPS. The PIN is designed to prevent your GPS from being used by an un-authorized user. It was also meant to be used a a deterrent to thieves, making the GPS useless if stolen. The PIN setup can be accessed by pressing the "wrench" symbol on the main menu (Nuvi Series). Next, press the "gear" symbol and you should see a listing for Garmin Lock. When you set up the PIN, you will be asked to enter in a (4) digit numeric code. After you enter the 4th digit, you will be asked again for the code. This is to make sure that both entries match and that verify that the PIN that you request will be the one written into memory. Your PIN is written into non-volatile memory..... it's not a file that is accessible via USB communications between the GPS and a PC. You can't clear it by disconnecting the power or disconnecting the battery or letting the battery run down. There is no jumper or switch inside the GPS to reset it, so don't waste your time tearing the GPS apart. Now, after you set the PIN, you will be asked to set the "secure" location. This can be anywhere.... your work location, home, local gas station, school, etc. In order to set the secure location, your antenna must be up and you have to have a satellite lock. If you don't have a lock, the "set" key will be grayed out until you acquire a lock. The secure location is your "back-up key" in case you forget your PIN. If you have forget your pin, all you have to do is physically go to the secure location. Make sure your antenna is up and that you have a satellite lock. When you are in the secure location, your GPS will NOT ask you for the PIN when you turn it on. You'll then be able to reach the main menu and change the PIN and secure location to something else if you desire. If you have forgot both the PIN and secure location you are out of luck. You'll have to send your unit back to Garmin to have it unlocked. Garmin may charge you for this service. Note: If you do send the unit back to Garmin to be unlocked and you are found not to be the original owner of the GPS and it's determined to be stolen, Garmin will contact law enforce

Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."

So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.

Help me unlock my gps i do not remember my pin # all i can remember is there is 6 # in the pin please help me

Take it back to the 'secure location' as indicated in your service manual. It will automatically unlock when it gets a full satellite signal. You have to enter the PIN number twice when setting up the unit. You should always use a number which is familiar to you so you can remember it. If you can't remember it, and if your secure location doesn't unlock the unit, you will need to send the unit to Garmin to unlock it. You will need your receipt for Garmin to unlock the unit.

My Garmin locked up

It will either require a code, or be turned on in your security spot.
Your security spot is usually set up at initial set up, this can be where ever you were when you first set up your gps device. (Driveway, Garage, Dining room) if you are within a meter or so from that piont it should unlock without a code.
If you don't recall this either, then perhaps it was never set up and it is a default code.

Try all of the obvious codes, 1111, , 1234, 2222, 3333, 0000, etc.
Failing all of this, it will have to go back to garmin to have it unlocked.

hope this is of some help.

Pin Removal

To reset, you have to go to the home location. That is the security location.

The only other solution to unlock this model GPS is to send it to Garmin with the proof of purchase. They are the only ones who can unlock your GPS. If you read the instruction booklet that came with the GPS, they expain the same thing I am indicating here. Call the Garmin support for details.

Reset my garmin streetpilot c530gps

There is no way to just "reset" the PIN. If you don't have the correct PIN, you must take the unit to the location at which the PIN was set. Your only other option is to return the unit to Garmin.
