Cannot open ''Solution center''

I've been using this Deskjet all-in-one F4140 for quite awhile with no problems. Then I turned on my computer to scan a document and the "Solution Center" won't execute. All it does is the hour glass flashes for a second and then nothing happens after that. I can print just fine, and can use the scanner to scan a picture using XP's "Scanners and Cameras" but the HP Solution Center won't activate now. The last time it happened, tech support had me go to the install CD and go to a utility called Uninstall_L3.bat which destroys all HP files. I had to uninstall normally, restart, go to msconfig in run mode, go to selective start, then disable services and startup checkboxes. After I finished everything and started up normal again, I was able to reinstall the software from the CD and everything worked fine. Now it's done it again and the just described proceedure doesn't fix the problem.

Disconnect the USB cable from the computer -insert the CD of the scanner in the computer - Click on uninstall to uninstall the software from the computer.

Now restart the compute to make the uninstall effective.

After restarting the computer -visit HP website and download the drivers for your scanner compatible for Windows Vista.

Save the drivers to the desktop, after successfully saving the file to the desktop, double click on the file to run the installation.

Keep the USB cable disconnected during installation and connect only when software prompt you to connect.

Uninstall the drivers of the printer currently loaded.and then reinstall the drivers properly that will solve your problem. simple.

Unable to check ink levels on deskjet f4140

The ink guage on my HP quit also but I was able to access via the tool box. Not sure if this is a software issue or the touch screen. You might be able to access the ink level when you go to print and do advanced settings. The ink level may be presented depending on your print program.

My hp deskjet f4140 will only scan and coy. It will not print anything from my computer. I used it last night and it worked fine , then it just stopped. Ive checked my devices and printers under my control...

is it giving any error while giving print command? goto start settings printer & faxes open the printer icon by double click .any job is pending in the queue? try remove the usb cable and check t below the pinter icon whether it shows off line?

My HP Deskjet F4140 All-in-One will not scan.

If you are trying to scan using the "scan" button on the deskjet, open your control panel from the start menu on your pc. Go to devices and printers. Find your deskjet on the list, and choose scan.

What about copy??

Open the lid of your scanner and press the copy button do you see any light moving below the glass .. if no then its a hardware issue contact HP for service

Had to reinstall HP Deskjet F4140 All-in One Printer after computer crashed. Scanner function will no longer save to file in PDF format as it would before computer problem.

In the scanning software of the printer there is an option to select PDF as your default.
Please go into the scanning software feature located in the program menu.

My F4140 won't scan

u can try scanning from Ms paint .. on the file click on scanner and cameras
if that also does not work you will need to reinstall the all in one

Perform the steps below to restart the spooler.. this will clean the print queue.

(1) Click "Start" > "Run".
(2) Type "services.msc".
(3) Click "OK".
(A window will pop-up with so many services listed)
(4) Locate and Right-click "Print Spooler" entry and Select "Restart" from the drop down menu.
(5) Now please restart the computer.

if the issue still persists, i would like to know what exactly are you trying to do...
* Printing a picture
* Scanning a picture

You need to have the printer in the ready state
Just do onething ....... take out both the cart and then insert just one cart and try ... check with only color or back one in the pinter
