To prove that you will need some utility program to test your cd drive.
You can use this cd to test your drive

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

At this point is better to change it.

Acer aspire PC model M3470G with error msg:can't find reboot disk or it is damaged

check bios at boot for any 'hard disk detection' options to see if the drive is actually getting power and being recognized by the system. If it is, it may likely be the boot record, which will require a reload or restore.

Laptop won'y start up has non-system disk or disk error

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

I restored my acer aspire one back to factory settings without a back up device. when I try to restore from disk with an external cd. it says my disk is incorrect. it was the disk that came with it.

In that case, only the seller can solve it replacing the disk or your CD drive that I did not want to mention but seems to be your problem. Before calling them, try to disable the CD driver in Control Panel, reboot, Enable the driver, reboot and try the cd again.

I'm having compaq presario A900 with Windows xp2003 laptop. When I try to install sound drive it is giving error msg like device driver not found..plz give solution for dis

Make sure your sound drivers are in fact there and are thew correct drivers. If in doubt, reinstall these drivers from your Restore disk. If you do not have this disk, look on the Compaq website to replace the disk, and then replace this defective driver. Oh --- when did your sounds last work?

Windows goes off with the msg 'NTLDR is missing'

NTLDR errors are usually caused by defective RAM on the motherboard. Try removing one of the RAM sticks on your board and see if computer works fine. If still gets error msg, swap the RAM stick and try again to narrow down which stick is faulty. Sometimes, its simply some corrosion on the RAM contacts which in that case, you only need to re-seat the sticks.
