47LG50 Stuck In Standby Mode

I have a 47" LG LCD TV, model # 47LG50. I purchased it 2 months ago and it has worked great until this morning when it went in to stand by mode and I cant get it out of it.

So far I have tried two remotes, pressing the power button that is on the TV itself, unplugging the TV and re-plugging it, tried plugging directly in to the wall, and in different spots on the surge protector (monster power surge).

It is under warranty but I wont be around for a repair person to stop by until next week so I am hoping I can do something myself. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help!

Try doing a hard reset i.e  unplugging it for  something close to 10-20 min  and then  try to open the  TV
if this does not work maybe there is some problem  with the power board as no light are showing if you have called a repaiman (under the warranty)  it would  be  safer not to  fiddle with the hardware much
as the warranty may get void

TV seems have problem either in Power or Back Light Inverter boards.
I would advise to call LG for warranty and if you open your TV yourself, warranty will be void.

Press and Hold <OK> button on remote as well as TV panel at the same time for a few minutes. To save the changes press <OK> in Remote.

PS: Be very careful while playing with the service menu. If something goes wrong, just switch off the TV and switch on it again.

else not much to add, but as for unplugging the TV, leave it unplugged for a minute or two before plugging it back in.

Try first unplugging the power cord for ten minutes. The TV is in protect mode.

47LG50 won't turn on, no standby light at all. DEAD! tried different power sources, but nothing. was on, made a "bzzzddd" noise then turned off. Serious or just a fuse?

you can remove the fuse and check them with a multimeter. put a lead on each end If the meter shows a low number (normally less than 1), then the fuse should be okay. if not than you need a new power supply board. be sure at all times to have tv un pluged while working on them and always be very cautious as the do still hold power. hope this helps

Im trying to find a firmware update for my LG 47LG50 47" LCD TV? where and how do i do this?

I've checked the LG support website. The product is discontinued but if you register your product you may get downloads of firmware upgrades, etc. With my phillips I couldn't see any firmware upgrades until I registered my product. Register here!

I have a two year old LG 47lg50 LCD HDTV and recent started getting "function not available now" flashing continuously on screen. Also set will not power off permanently, returns on shortly after...

The solution for the problem is to replace the control PCB. The PCB is the printed circuit board that controls the volume, channel and menu buttons.

These parts can be found and bought from Sears parts direct.

A break down of the cabinet parts can be found here.

Sky code - LG 47" TV Model Code47LG5020ZB

If there is no code, then there is no code.

The only other option would be to buy a 3rd party remote that is compatible with both devices. Unfortunately there is no way to know if it will actually work until you try it.
