Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators
Frigidaire Side By Side Refrigerator Model # GLRT218WDB9. made after 4/2001
Recently I replaced the water filter (5yr. 10,000 gallon bulky) with an Aqua Pure AP717 (1-yr. 1,500 gal.). Sometime afterward, I was told the ice maker wasn't functioning; that water wasn't flowing to it. Fortunately the freezer works. So I went online to determine whether the filter was the improper brand installed.
To check, I filled in the section for the model number and got this: Puresource Water Filter WF1CB as the proper item for this appliance.
I was wondering whether this is the actual problem. Thank You.

SOURCE: slow water flow
dadcanfix. There are two possibilities here. One could be the water valve itself, clogged or not seating or opening properly. The second would be the water tank on the refrigerator side, partially frozen. I believe they have a kit now with coiled tubing that replaces that tank because of the trouble they had with it. Remove the refer drawers and take a hair dryer and go over the tank lightly. See if that improves the water flow. Catriver..post back.

Open valve completely.
Supply valve must have a 1/4" opening for water to fully supply ice maker. Many self-piercing valves do not have this big of an opening. Replace water supply valve with one that has a 1/4" opening.
If equipped with a water filter, replace filter canister or cartridge.
Thanks for using Fixya!
