When i turn my mp3 player on, it says system file corrupted.

  • Jim65 Mar 20, 2008

Had "File System Corrupt!" message appear on my RCA H115A after a bit over a year. PC wouldn't recognize it, and it wouldn't stay turned on.

Following advice (thanks folks), I uncovered the screw under the barcode and popped the back with the help of my knife. I didn't notice that the connection from the hard drive was loose, but pulled it out, wiped everything off, and reconnected. It worked!

They don't give this at the help desk, but it seems to be a common problem with many models. Looks like the connection isn't very tight.

I actually fixed this!!! Mine had been giving me the "file system corrupted" error. So, I opened it up (unscrew the screw on the back, pry the back cover off with a small flat head screwdriver or a key, etc.) and saw that the connector between the CF drive and the motherboard had come apart.

I re-inserted the cable into the groove of the connector on the motherboard, pushed the broken/separated piece of plastic that serves as a retainer for the cable back down, held it in place, and taped it down with a 1/4 inch wide strip of duct tape (taped all the way around the connector/cable to help keep it in). I put the Lyra back together and then turned it on... and it WORKED! It came right on into the normal menu! Yay!

Good luck other people, I hope that this is the same thing that happened to your player and that you can also fix it! =)

Take the back off and make sure the hard drive is all the way plug in then try it

I have had that problem before but all I have had to do is plug it into the computer and it works again.  But this time I can't do anything about it.  I really don't want to throw it away either.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Mp3 wont work

If the file system is corrupted, you have put files into the wrong folders.
To fix it, simply copy over all of your files from the mp3 player to your computer, format the mp3 player, then synch the files back onto it.

The files are corrupt

Was the player disconnected before disabling it correctly? In the bottom right in the system tray the usb icon with a green arrow is able to be right clicked and select "Safely Remove Hardware" to safely remove most players. I personally got frustrated, forgot to do this and removed my Pearl hastily. After that it has yet to function properly. The system is corrupted and no files register even though there are still 967 mb worth of music on the player.
So this is not a solution but rather a probable cause to the problem. I have yet to find a fix for this except to dispose of the player responsibly and purchase a new one.

Have you tried replacing your firmware? I believe the firmware for that model is here http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Lyra/Lyra-Mp3-Player-RD2760-firmware-207.shtml but you may can get a newer version from rca's support site.

I don't know exactly which model of the Thomson Lyra you have, but you can visit the Support page on their website, find your particular player model, and download software updates that might help solve this problem.
