I've been reading about LD errors all day - and so I started taking apart my washing machine - but I can't figure out how to get the basket out. I removed the cap where the laundry softener goes - and I popped out the cap that was below that. Now what???
My husband will be home in 4 hours and he's going to kill me if I have a gutted washer on the floor!!1
LD means long drain. First check to make sure that there is nothing stuck inside your drain hose. The next thing to check is your pump. lean the washer back and locate the pump. Next take it loose and clean out any debrit inside it. That should take care of it. If not check your lid switch.
To take the basket out you have to pull the agitator. You can do this by pulling the 7/16 bolt out of the center of the agitator. Lift up and pull the agitator out. Next there is a nut on top of the tub That has 4 slots in it. Put a large screwdriver in one of the slots and hit it with a hammer to the left to loosen it. when you get that nut off just puul the basket out.
You have to get a ratchet with a long extension. When you get to the next step with the nut holding in the tub, Dont give up. It takes a special tool but a screw driver and hammer will work.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
Ld means long drain and is displayed when it takes longer than 5
minutes to pump out the water to a point where the pressure switch resets. To
solve this problem make sure that the drain filter pump assembly located inside
the bottom front panel is clean and after cleaning if the error returns then
the pressure switch needs to be tested and if bad then it needs replacement.
Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Hi
An LD
error indicates long drain time which means that there is either something
stuck/clogged in the pump or the pump itself has gone bad and should be
replaced. You can take it apart completely and check for impeller damage or
clogs. You have to clean it completely so make sure that you have lot of towels
ready as there will be water coming out of it when you clean the pump. Hope this helps...please post
back for further assistance.

Thanks, I did all of the above - pump was clean as were hoses going into it. I can see from the bottom of the machine that right above where the pump sits there is a bunch of junk... And I'm trying to get there to clean it out - I think the only way to get there is to pull out the basket - but I can't get it out.
Thanks Duby - but how do I get to the bolt? It's way down in the center of the agitator - I can see it with my flashlight - but no idea how to get down there.
Hey Duby - I can't find an extension long enough to get to the 7/16 bolt - The LD error has gone - but when I watch it wash from behind - I can see a HUGE furr ball or something under the basket.
Do you have any other ideas how to get the basket out?
So - I bought the 7/16 extension on ebay - and I just tried to get the bolt out - do I just pull the bolt straight up? Or do I have to unscrew it - sorry to be clueless about this - but this is the first time I've even used tools....
The LD error is not showing any more - but I can see a huge ball of stuff under the bin when it's filled with water -
Now I've created a new problem - the washer won't spin..... When it gets to the spin cycle, it clicks a few times and then just gets stuck there. What have I done?
Thanks for the help!
