Question about HP DeskJet 5550 InkJet Printer

My hpdeskjet 5550 printer is not printing. lights are flashing

I had to chg ink, cartridges did not stop in center to change. I held it til it stopped, then changed the ink..now lights are flashing and it won't print at all.

Hi all of you ,
Since the cartridge drive not stop in center when open the to door, you have ffurther problem
try use the old one, if ok , clean your printer.

In this error condition, the following light pattern displays on the product control panel and a message might display on the computer:
  • Print Cartridge status light : On
  • Resume light : Off
  • Power light : On

    • There might be a problem with one or both cartridges.

  1. If the cover on the product is open, close it.
  2. Press the Resume button (c01219285.bmp ) to continue printing.
Solution two: Determine the cartridge issue When there is an issue with a cartridge, a yellow arrow on top of the carriage (inside the product) points to a drawing of a cartridge that indicates what the issue is. Follow these steps to determine the cartridge issue, and then continue to the next section for solutions to resolve the issue.
  1. Open the top cover on the product. Wait for the carriage to move. The yellow arrow on top of the carriage (inside the product) points to a drawing of a cartridge that indicates what the issue is.
  2. Look at the drawing and then find the icon in the following figure that matches the drawing. Each of these icons represents a different cartridge issue. Use the icons to determine the cartridge issue. Tip

Bottom Two Lights Flashing


Was printing recently and paper tray ran empty. Then cartridges jammed to the right side and bottom two lights flashed continuously, in spite of disconnecting power, restart, etc. Finally, in attempt to change ink cartridges, pushed down on housing for ink cartridges and heard a click. They were jammed in the far right position. Restarted printer and all worked fine. Not very techy, but it worked!

How do i change the ink cartridge on my printer


These are the steps on how to install/replace cartridge(s) on Hp Deskjet 5550.
  • Press the POWER button to turn on the printer.
  • Open the top cover. The cradle moves to the center of the printer.
  • Open the cradle latch.
  • Slide the print cartridge out of the print cartridge cradle and discard it.
  • Remove the replacement print cartridge from its packaging and carefully remove the plastic tape. Hold the print cartridge so that the copper strip is on the bottom.
  • Slide the print cartridge firmly into the cradle. Ensure that the copper contacts of the print cartridge meet the copper contacts of the print cartridge cradle.
  • Close the cradle latch.

Changed both ink cartridges. Ink indicator light still flashing. Won't print test page.


remove cartridges switch off unit open cartridge door and clean off sensors and bay with a semi damp int free cloth close unit power up and then pull out power cable wait 10 seconds and plug power cable back in when it asks for the cartridges insert them

All HP ink cartridges are dated. If you are using the remanufactured ones the date is not changed and will not work properly at all. By HP ink only and you will never run into this again.

Can't find ink levels on my printer


I just had this same problem on my Deskjet 5550 printer. The orange light (ink indicator) was staying on. I found out that all you need to do is just open the front cover to the printer. If your printer is running out of ink, the print cradle will move to either the far left or far right side. If it moves to the far left side, the BLACK cartridge is low or empty and should be replaced. If the print cradle stays on the far right side, the COLOR cartridge should be replaced. Normally, when you open the front cover, the print cradle should move to the center. Hope this helps!

Ink light wont shut off


You will have to change the cartridges in the store that you have bought them, cause at least one of them is with problem in the internal circuit.

Printer won't print


Did you peel the piece of paper on the ink cartridge?Or if that doesnt help do this get the cartridge out and then dip some water on the ink leaking part with a piece of paper and well see what will happen.
