Hi, My Canon Camcorder MV730i

Hi, My Canon Camcorder MV730i wont focus on images. Can see changes in light. Will play old tapes on VCR mode.
Screen appears mostly dark and lines moving across screen.
Can you offer any advice?

I contacted Canon service in Sydney who advised this has been a common fault with this model. They will most likely fix it for free.
