Bottom element on range doesn't work although its been replaced

Recently, we had a problem with our 4 year old Amana electric coil range. Without an explanation, the digital clock suddenly disappeared, the temperature setting canged to celsius and the range would not bake correctly afterwards. Although we had luck in turning the on board clock back on and changing the temperature setting from celsius back to Fahrenheit like it was in the beginning, we could not get the bottom heating element in the range to work at all. We replaced the bottom element in the stove assuming it had gone out, but this did not solve the problem. Now we are stuck with two good heating elements (have checked both with a multimeter,) we can't afford a service call and are at a loss as to what to do.

The clock most likely has bad capacitors which cause the dipay to go out. That's what mine did. The solution was replacing three small capactors on the clock circuit board. The capacitors are worth $1.50.
I did it myself, but I have twenty years of consumer elctronics repair experience. If you can get the clock out, take it to a friendly repairman who can replace the capacitors. A place in Texas charges $100 for rebuilt clocks.

Top oven bottom coil doesn't come on. Is it

Yes the lower element of a electric oven is the bake element, the upper on is broil element,
The most usual thing why it doesnt heat is a broken element. Does a part of it look smooth and a part real rough and ragged looking
If a part of it looks ragged and rough the element is bad,it should not be bulged out anywhere of it.
it should look smooth and uniform
If it does seem to be not uniform anywhere on it,replace bake element

My oven is two years old and the bottom oven coil will not heat up. The top one works just fine but not the bottom.

you may have a burned out bake element even if the range is only a couple of years old. if you can see the element look for a burned area. if you can't see it you will need to unplug the range and see how to get it out yourself or call a repair service. hope this helps.

Amana over

as far as the elementy working, if it glows red, its working. if the unit is preheating within 12-15 min, id say the elements are fine. as far as not maintaining temp, thats strange, if the elemnt turns on the control is sendinding power, and its shuttin off so its stopping power, sounds as if a relay is geting stuck on the control board, strange thngs happen when you short things out like that.

Bottom element on range doesn't work

we can check a few things, first off you need to confirm 220v. to unit itself, ill assume you do, the top elements are working correctly.. sounds like a bad electronic control, what youll need to check is on the control itself, there is a wire labeled L1, then there will be a bake terminal, ill also assume L1 has 110v, other\wise the clock wouldnt be liting up, but if you carefully unplug the bake terminal and test terminal for power( it will have 110v, after you select bake andstart oven.

Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.
