Hi, first i want you to know that the camera was not dropped/forced or anything improperly--I was replacing a full tape and when I put the next tape in (the small ones) it will not accept it, after a few seconds it will beep several times ---the strange part is that the part that holds the tape will go back in when its empty. I have tried several different tapes/and it is fully charged, I even tried it plugged in to the wall. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks
canon --the rest of the numbers/letters are NTSC ZR85 in case that helps
After reading further on this site about other people with a similar problem, I gently smacked the side of the camera and it shut with a tape in it!! Thank the Lord & thanks for this site--I will reccommend it!!!

This is already an issue with the hardware. There is a rubber bond inside the cassette that is no longer intact and needs to be replaced. Possible cause by repetition of single and old cassette tape and improper tape position.
the problem could be because of the problem with the pinch roller ,either it has some wear or the supporting spindle needle has some improper orientation.
Is this with a specific tape or all tapes?
if it is specific to a tape then it can be because you kept the recorded tape near magnet which causes this rythmic sound drop out.
i guess the first one may be mostly happened.
all the best
it could have been forced at some time and has bent the loading door,,, maybe a bit of cassette broke off inside it and is jamming it up best bet is to drop it off at the repair shop let them fix it for you,,
Please see the detail below for the said error codes C31:23.
to the symptom and self diagnostic system the problem is in mechanical
section (tape loading section) Therefore camera just need mechanical
adjustment and will work fine again. This problem aries when the
insertion of the cassette is improper or forced insertion. Thanks for using fixya.
