The Sears model 358.797200 appears to the FL1500LE marketed under the Craftsman name. Go to the searspartsdirect.com site and enter the Sears model number. This blower may be prone to develop binding in the pull cord rewind spring compartment, which can be fixed by adding washers to increase the spacing. Open the rewind starter page on the sears site for an exploded view. I found that by placing 2 washers on each of the 5 screws (no. 7 on the diagram) which attach impeller housing (12) to the motor, I increased the spacing enough so the pull cord operated and retracted normally. The washers must go between the impeller housing and the motor. To complete the repair, you need to add a washer between the spacing flywheel (14) and the impeller(15) to keep the impeller from binding against the housing. The gasoline tank screws won't line up as well with the holes, but will fit. Install all 3 screws for the at first loosely, then tighten them down.

I took off the bottom plastic casing .Then put on a long shaft socket (with ratchet).Turned clockwise until it stopped, gave it a sharp whack (the ratchet handle ) with a hammer and the rope snapped back in.Working fine since.

Yes there is but it would call for pulling the rear of the caseing out and then rewinding the unit for it to have the springback which sounds like it either slipped out or the wheel inside is stripped and broken but even then it should wind back up it just wouldnt turn it over when trying to start it.

I will see what I can do as far as finding more info for you on fixing this. I have done this with mine but its a bit harder to explain then it is to show so if I have to take mine apart and video tape it maybe that will help as well. let me know and I will get back to you as soon as possible if you are not comfortable with taking it apart without a guide of some sort.

pull your spark plug and see if it will pull then, if so then it is hydro locked with fuel which can be caused y a bad fuel cap, not venting or a stuck open needle in carb causing gas to flood cylinder

Cord is stuck. Can't pull it

is cord stuck out or in? sounds like possible fan/flywheel cam loose on you which will cause this, take recoil off and see if it rolls over by hand with spark plug out, if so then reinstall recoil and see if pull rope works then, if not check fan and/flywheel on opposite side you will have to dissasemble case to do this, lots of screws, once there check flywheel key in flywheel to see if it has spun, if so you will need new flywheel approx$ 60.00 part hope this helps you

Can't pull the cord...it was running, then all of a sudden died out, and could no longer pull the cord to start, it appears to be stuck

Hello,

First start by pouring out the fuel in the tank, into a container that you can see through. Is the fuel a yellowish color, or is it blueish? If it is yellowish, someone forgot to put oil in it, and you seized the engine and you wont be able to fix it. Well you could, but it would be cheaper to buy a new one.

Hope this helps

Toro self propelled 22 inch recycler lawn mower start pull cord is "stuck"

Casey,

My son just bought a new Toro self propelled 22" recycler and has had problems on two different occasions. The mower just bogs down to a stop and when he tried to pull the starter cord, it was very VERY difficult to pull. At first I thought the engine had seized up for some reason (no oil?), but we found the problem.

First, disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (to avoid the engine starting); tip the mower on its side and check very carefully the pulley and transmission belt. In his case, a piece of wood had gotten stuck between the belt and the pulley. Removing it fixed the problem (now he mows a little higher so as not to get so close to any debris). (We did have one further problem after that - the engine would not start - not even fire. After pulling and pulling, checking for gas, and checking that the air filter was cleean, we decided to check if the cylinder was flooded - we removed the spark plug, wiped and dried if off, and replaced it. It started right away.)

This belt 'n pulley arrangement isn't the best idea, if you ask me.

Good luck.
