Have the lines always been there?

If yes, but a line conditioner or rerout your cable from where it comes into your house to the TV.
If no, you should check your power supply board. The capacitors on the power board are likely going bad. Don't keep using it like this. Either check the board, buy the same value caps and replace them, or order in and replace the entire power board. The latter is the easiest to do. Remove rear case and inner shield, replace the power board and reassemble.

Tv went double and green and black lines appeared at the top and bottom of the screen

tv has a condition common in rear projection. the geometry and coincidence of the screen is called convergence. this is regular repair in the workshop. I expecting the fail stops in convergence amplifiers (first step of this critical area) because total convergence out of sinc as you are posting can lead to the control of the convergence previous to the amplifiers (is called digital convergence unit). It can increase the cost of the repair. some testing in the bench can divide this decision. But usuallly a simple damage is one color or two colors distortion, your tv shows three of them because this black area visible top and down.

Coloured lines down my tv

If the coloured lines are in the edges, then there is absolutely no problem and it should not be visible from a viewing range of 1.5 meters and further. If the lines are in the middle of the screen, then your phosphor coating (the screen) is burnt. you need to buy a new one, since burnt screens are not repairable.

Hello,

The line should be visible, even with the television off. It is called "de-lamination" of the LCD panel, and occurs in lines, usually vertical, on the screen.

The panel does need to be replaced. You can contact Sony at 1800-222-SONY. They are good people, and should be able to help you.

Hope this helps...

Lines?

If this is a new to you monitor, then you may need to update the video driver for this model. You can do that online from Viewsonic's website.

Good luck, and let me know if you are able to fix the problem, or provide more info!

Line across screen

I have the same problem with my 42 in. The line started to show up randomly about 1 month after i got my tv. The line isn't a line of dead pixels since when i change the aspect ratio or the tv the line moves up or down. I called sharp about the problem and they said it had something to do with my computer but i don't think that can explain why the problem shows up on all my tv inputs.
