We have a Polaroid 37" HD tv that has a loud

You have weak capacitors in the power supply and the signal board. I have not repaired this particular unit, but have experienced this with other Polaroid TVs. You will need a TV tech to replace those capacitors. It is a very time consuming task and requires patience and much care to remove the capacitors. Tell a tech that they must be very careful when they remove a cap in the signal board, as they can peel off a pcb trace. In most cases they replace the signal board, but the capacitors can be replaced! Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

TV shuts down for a few weeks/months and then comes back on. Why?

Very likely that you have bad capacitors. They will work intermittently. You will have one or two bad capacitors in the power supply, and you can also expect some capacitors are aging in the signal board. I have seen many of the Polaroid TVs with bad capacitors as the first reason they go down. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

I have a Polaroid TDA 03211C 32inch LCD TV /DVD COMBO screen went black cant get screen to work, sound works

It has 2 blown capacitors in it. Mine had the same problem. The capacitors are located at EC17 & EC18 on the top circuit board inside the tv. They cost about 1.00 a piece. You can get them at It is very easy to take the board out and have someone soldier the new ones in and then put it back together. You can fix it for about 40.00. Hope this helps. Do a search on line of what the capacitors look like........

Hi there. My girlfriends 2003 TTM Polaroid TV DVD Combo does not turn on anymore. She told me that the TV started switching channels, therefore she turned it off. It would not turn back on and still does...

If yours is anything like my Polaroid FLM-373B 37", I had the same type of problem. The problem with mine was two capacitors on the display board. Took me about an hour and less than $5.00 to fix. You have to take the access panel off the back. Mine was held on with three screws. You also have to take the display board out which mine was held in with four screws. The capacitors stand straight up on the board and are round with either black or silver colored on the top. Look for two silver ones that may be bulged on the top or are leaking. If you find this, that probably is your problem. I hope this helps. If you need more help, please let me know.

When you turn on power only the blue light goes on and nothing else happens

There is an awesome post about capacitors going bad in polaroid TV's... it is here on fixya.
and another thread here

I just took apart mine, and though the capacitors are not "bulged" as they apparently should be, I'm willing to spend the 45 bucks on parts (2 capacitors, soldering gun, solder, and de-soldering tool) on Amazon.

It should take 1-2 weeks for the parts to reach me and I'll post back with the results. It's better than dealing with the $300 solution proposed by polaroid...

37" polaroid lcd tv won't turn on

Here's the fix:

I had the same problem with mine. Replaced the capacitors and now it works. When you open the back of the tv up, the problem is with the 2 capacitors on the upper left of the top card. Mine didn't look damaged except for a very, very slight bulge on the top. If you've never soldered anything, you might want to take it to someone who has, otherwise, it's a pretty simple fix. I was surprised I could do it so easily.

If the warranty is still good, make Polaroid replace it. They make shoddy products and should pay for it. And never buy another Polaroid again.

Re: Polaroid FLM-2601

I repaired mine the same way, I replaced the two defective 1000uf 35v capacitors and mine works as good as new. The capacitors are ruined by heat, as they are positioned at the top of the power supply board where all the heat is (a poor design, in my opinion). If you do this make sure that you use high temperature electrolytic capacitors rated at 105 deg. C. minimum. I used caps rated at 125 deg. C. hoping it will last a little longer this time.

No Picture in my 1 Year Old Polaroid FLM-2632 LCD TV

had the same problem. if you take out the power supply in the back of your tv ( easy to get to just a few screws in back to get to the box then a few more to get into it and some quick disconnects) you can take it to a local tv repair shop and they can remove the two green capacitors in the upper left of the circuite panel and place in 16v ones that can actually handle the power needed. do not try to do it yourself although the new capacitors only cost 2 dollars one wrong move and you burn the wires on the board. the repair man only charged me 54 dollars well worth it considering polaroid wanted to charge me 500 to fix a 2 dollar part that should have been recalled. they are in the busines to make money but if any of us did what they did wede be considerd con artist. final note since ive replaced the capacitors my tvs worked better than when i bought it
