Bypass Computer PATS

Hello,
I need to replace my 1998 Ford F150 Computer with a newer 2000 Ford F150 computer due to an engine and transmission replacement. The problem is the 2000 computer is PATS and my older truck does not use the PATS transponder key, PATS module in the steering column, and PATS instrument cluster. Do you make a module or way that I can enable the 2000 computer? How can I bypass or enable the 2000 computer without having to replace the instrument cluster, steering column, keys etc? Thanks in advance,

James

In search of my own PATS related issue, i've seen quite a few documents with relative info. from what i've been able to gather from these, the EEC and PCM must be replaced together ('98 and newer) as they are coded to each other as well as a key coded to them. to do this, assuming you did get both replaced as new units and not pulled from junkers, you must also aquire a ignition cylinder equipped for reading a PATS key (might as well be a 2000). this is all speculation, but i believe you could mount the new cylinder somewhere in the dash, perhaps behind the glove box, many models have extra room back there. then run the PATS related wiring to the new cylinder, and tow it off to a dealer. coding the key in that year model computer requires the proprietary ford scanning tool and about half an hour minimum. once coded, you can leave the key installed in the dash and use your old one to start the truck as normal. if you were unfortunate enough to get your PCM from a junker, be prepared to pay quite a bit, since you'll need yet another PCM and EEC. i've seen many a forum post with claims of $1200 bills for replacement and coding of a key. i dont believe your instrument cluster will be 100% compatible either but theres something to hope for.

How to reset pats on 2000 ford ranger

Several things could be wrong/bad. The key/transponder, the receiver in the column, wiring, the security module, and the ecm. You need to have the codes read. This narrows things down. I replace the entire system. I get them at junk yards for $1500 to $200. But you need them all and they have to fit your car, year amke and model, engine size and transmission.

If the engine starts and runs, it is not the PATS holding things up. PATS is only prior to starting the engine, with the start enable parameter from the cluster. Once this is past, it is not longer involved in the process ( you can use a remote start with a correctly configured PATS bypass module, with a normal straight key to turn the truck to the on position.

Is this a crank no start issue ? If so, is the theft light in the cluster flashing ? No mention about the PATS bypass. One try is to put a functioning key in the ign ( in the off position is fine ) and try to remote start the truck. This would satisfy the PATS check, to know if the PATS bypass is programmed correctly, or if you do not have one, if everything else is installed correctly and you just need to add a PATS bypass module.

I want to bypass my 99 ford f150 alarm system

If you are talking about the PATS system, no way to do it. There is no factory alarm from Ford, if it is a Ford OEM system, it was added at the dealer. The 97 & 98 has a factory alarm system, but this was deleted after the introduction of PATS in 1999.

2000 f150 will not start, replaced computer ,fuel pump, try to start and theft light keeps flashing, acts like there is no spark.

If you replaced the PCM, the HEC ( instrument Cluster ) needs to have the PCM_ID cleared. The HEC and PCM are paired at the factory, if this is changed a WDS / IDS diagnostic tool needs to be used. Higher end mechanics and Dealers have the equipment to do this.

If the PCM_ID in the cluster does not match the PCM, the fuel pump is shut off, the same as if an un-programmed PATS key is used ( Crank no start with flashing theft light ).
