This is the same problem that I am having. I'm a Systems Engineer with Siemens and would also like to be made aware of the instructions to resolving this problem. I've owned this TV since July 2003. This is the first time this "Ghosting" problem has been seen. I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks - Ken,

Do not waste any money on a new optical interface through sony, what you need to do is get into the system menu and make some changes to the vertical and/or horizontal line config. Do a search for this and if you can't find it let me know and i will try and find it on my system and e-mail it to you, AGAIN do not waste any money replacing anything, if you have some AVZ and IT experience then the system meny will not be hard to do, if not then you might have to get someone knowledgeable in these 2 areas to help you out. otherwise a change in the system menu's can cause your tv to stop completely working altogether.

What do you mean "get into the system" menu? I'm guessing if I don't know it means that I shouldn't be trying it?

I have the ghosting problem that started a couple of weeks ago and is now getting worse. I see a pattern starting - 5 years and your screwed.

Sony is saying I have to repair my ghosting problem with an optical engine for $1650 plus $395 installation. Guess life expectancy on this TV is only 5 years. I'll think twice about a Sony in the future. Our super bowl party will be great for Sony. When everyone asks "whats wrong with your TV", I'll have to say Sony said 5 years is just about right

I would re check your steps. If you have a harness that is not hooked up, that is bad. It goes some where.

I have sony tv sets model kf-60xbr800 and manufactured in 2003. My bulb blown out which number is xl-2000u. how to replace new bulb?

Obviously you should purchase the new bulb. (here: ) 1. unscrew the four Phillips head screws from the front (as you see the bulb) 2. slide the front out. 3. unscrew the Phillips head screw connecting the circuit 4. with pliers take off the nut attaching the other circuit 5. remove the wire holder 6. remove both golden fasteners. READY FOR NEW BULB. it is recommended to use a glove while touching the new bulb. 7. go backwards trough the steps until assembled!

Sony 52 inch XBR with bands of ghosted images

Its a TAB bond Problem with the LCD. You can take apart the TV and install a rubber Bumper to put pressure on the TAB. TAB bonds always get worse... I dont know how long it will solve the issue... but u can get a little more life out of it.
Rember when working with the TV the voltages can kill!!
Heres a link to see someone fixing.
I have the same TV...same problem...common problem...unless u ask Sony.

Pinkish image ghosting when watching tv

It sounds like you have a bad optical assembly. Depending on labor prices in you area you will likely have a repair bill somewhere between $700 and$1000.

The cause of the problem can be that the CRT-s are getting weak. Life span of CRT is around 30000 hours of working time. Please calculate. If you need more info please advice.
