Go to newegg.com. Find the model you want and click on it. Under "specifications" tab, they list the mfr page for the exact model you are looking at. That page will get you what you need. Also, you are running a "G" router- prices on "N" routers are so low, it may pay to just upgrade to an "N" router.

SOURCE: Linksys routetr problem

HI,
The problem can be caused, because of two reasons, one the router profile on the computer has got corrupted and second the router itself. Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults.. Caution: all wireless security settings and user name and passwords would go back to factory defaults.

1.Disconnect all cable from the back of the router.
2. Shut down your computer and the DSL box
3.Press the reset button, using a paper clip at the back of the router.Keep it pressed for 5 seconds
4. Disconnect the power cord to the router
5. Switch on the Dsl box, wait for the lights to stablize
6. Reconnect the interenet cable and the power cable to the router and power it on.
7 Let the lights stabalise on the router and power on the computer.

Check if that resolves the problem, if not we might need to update the router.

Thanks

I have to reset (unplug power, wait 10 secs, then plug back in) a lot to have internet access. The router is recognized and it says that I am connected, however it also says that I have no internet...

There are lots of factor why you have that kind of problem when it comes to your router. Before following the steps in this, check if your computer has a stable Internet connection when connected directly to your broadband modem. If you do not have a stable Internet connection with your modem, kindly contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

May I know what is the model and version of your Linksys router?

If you run into Intermittent Wired Connections Using a Router:

Step1: Enabling MTU on the Router

- Access the router's web-based setup page.

- Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.

- Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].
NOTE: If the IP address of the router has been changed, type the router's IP address in the Address bar instead.

- A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank then enter your router's password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.

- NOTE: If the password of the router has been changed, type the router's new password in the Password field instead.

Step2: When the router's web-based setup page appears, look for MTU and set it to Manual. Enter the MTU value of your Internet connection in the Size field.

1468. The size DHCP or cable providers prefer.

1400. Maximum size for DSL.

Step3: Save settings.

===================================================================

If you run into Intermittent Wireless Connections Using a Router:

Check if your wireless computers have stable connection when connected to other wireless networks.

Regular wireless disconnection can be caused by different factors such as:

> Wireless interference within the network.

> Wireless settings of the Linksys router are still set to default.

> Firmware is corrupted.
===================================================================
NOTE: If the procedure does not work, needs to update the router

Im tryig to piggyback my wrt54g router to another part of the house. I have a cable coming from my linksys e1000 n router which is my main router. When i plug the cable into the 54g i can access the router...

What is the IP address of the E1000 router ?
If the IP address of E1000 router is 192.168.1.1, Then change the IP address of WRT54G router to 192.168.1.2. Connect the Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port of E1000 router to the Ethernet port of WRT54G router ( port 1 of E1000 to port 1 of WRT54g). Disable the DHCP server.

You can do it in a different way also.
If the IP address of E1000 is 192.168.1.1. then change the IP address of the WRT54g to 192.168.2.1. Do not disable the DHCP server of the WRT54G. Connect the E1000 to the Internet port of WRT54G.

How to configure Linksys WRT54G router with BSNL's C2110 modem?

The Linksys WRT54G broadband router is one of the most popular consumer routers there are. Linksys makes configuring your router easy. This article will walk you through the initial setup options for this particular model, but many of the basics we talk about here can be applied to any router setup. Setting up the router consists of four basic steps, such as Testing your Internet connection, connecting your hardware, setting up the connection and power cycling the entire network. Aside, from setup, we'll also describe some security concerns so you can make an educated decision on the administration of your home network.
Test Your Internet Connection First While this seems like something you would not need to be, make sure your Internet connection actually works. If you haven't already, plug the cable modem directly into the back of the computer and make sure you can get onto the internet. You may need to reboot the machine first.
Connect The Modem and Router to the PC Now that we have confirmed the Internet connection works, the next step is to connect the modem to the router and the router to the PC. The modem will attach to the router's Internet Port. You will then attach the router to the PC via any of the four Ethernet ports in the rear. Check the LED lights in the front of the router to confirm all of the connections are properly made. The Power, WLAN, Ethernet Port to PC and the Internet should all be lit.
Configure The Linksys WRT54G Settings With all connection made, you will now need to login to the router via your web browser. Type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. You should see the login screen. Leave the username blank and type admin as the password and hit enter.
You will now need to configure the router's connection to the Internet. Under the Setup / Basic Setup section, make sure the router is setup to Automatic Configuration - DHCP. This allows the router to receive an IP address from your Internet Service Provider.
Next, go to the MAC Address Clone tab in the same area and enable Mac Address Cloning. This allows the router to clone your PCs MAC address, as the ISP may require this.
Power Cycle the Router and Modem Now that everything is configured, you'll want to power cycle everything. This is done to make sure everything has an IP address from the modem all the way through to the PC. To power cycle, shutdown everything. Unplug the modem and router power source. Shutdown the computer. Plug in the modem and wait for all green lights. Next, plug in the router and wait a few minutes until its lights are also green. Lastly, boot up the PC. You should have an Internet connection.
Change the Linksys WRT54G Router Password You noticed when setting up the router, that there was a default username of nothing and a password of "admin." Be sure to log back into the router once everything is running properly and type in a username and change the password. If you don't, a hacker that sees you have a WRT54G router could login to the router with the default credentials.

Linksys Wireless-G not connecting to internet

Make sure you are plugging the SMC into the WAN port on the Linksys router and not the LAN ports.  Your internet connection (which is your SMC) should always plug into your WAN port on the Linksys.  Any computers that you may need to plug in, like Desktops that are "wired" and not "wireless", should plug into the LAN ports on the Linksys.  If you are not using the WAN port on the Linksys for your SMC modem, then that would explain why you cannot get to the internet on wireless or wired computers.
Here's why you are getting the "low connectivity" message:

Computers don't understand why the Internet is connecting or not connecting...so the "low connectivity" message you keep receiving has nothing to do with your wireless signal strength.   To a computer NIC, "low connectivity" means your network adapter could not find a DHCP server and receive a valid IP address.  When this happens, your network adapter assigns an IP address to your computer in the following range...169.254.0.0, and will display the "low connectivity" message until it is able to receive a valid private IP address from the DHCP server.  You can verify this by going to START | RUN and typing "cmd" (without the quotes), then hit ENTER.  A black box will pop up....then type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and hit ENTER.  This will show you your IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address, and you can verify that your IP address is in the 169.254.0.0 range.  A valid private IP address is typically in the 192.168.0.0 range, but could also be in the 10.0.0.0 range, or the 172.16.31.0 range.    Also, make sure you have DHCP server enabled on the Linksys router for the LAN.  This will ensure your "wired" and "wireless" computers receive a valid IP address.
The WAN port on your Linksys router should be configured to "Obtain an IP address automatically using DHCP".

Cheers!

Cannot connect with ATT modem

Connect your pc to the ATT box. If online, check the ip address of the computer. If the ip address is 192.168.1.x, then you just have to change the router ip address. The wrt54g ip is 192.168.1.1, it may be having conflict with the ATT modem. Change the wrt54g ip to 192.168.2.1

WRT54G linksys router

Hi,
The first thing I would do is check to make sure the desktop with XP has the network card set to "obtain an IP address automatically"

if it is set to obtain an ip address automatically, I need to know the following:

What is the IP addresss of the router?
What is the IP address of the Vista computer?
What is the IP address of the xp computer?

You can find the ip address by going to start, then run, then type cmd and hit enter. at a command prompt type: ipconfig and hit enter.

No internet connection

You didn't specify if you're using DSL or Cable internet.

With DSL, keep in mind the software1.gif on the PC is what "dials out" to the ISP with your name / password, and you MUST set the name and password in the router. Otherwise, ONLY the computer that has the software installed (verizon, etc) will be able to connect.

If you're using a cable connection, you don't have to do this, however, most newer Linksys routers come with a 'setup' disk, which MUST be used regardless of connection type.
