My Emerson flat panel television keeps shutting itself off. Ever since i power outage i cannot manually turn on my tv with my remote for emerson. instead i have to click the side of the television , the power button and it will flash and blink green for a few seconds, stop, and go to standby mode. This has happened frequently but i have been lucky a few times and the tv would come on after a few weeks. It will flash digital television when i press the power button on the side of the tv. Then at the last minute i will be able to see the input at the top of the screen flash HDMI 1. I have a HDMI 1 cable input cord connected from the back of the television to the cable box. My cable box works perfectly with the remote control. Because my remote does not work with the tv when the tv shuts itself off, i tried troubleshooting it and i got the green light to flash longer. I know there is NO circuit problem. I've done my research and my handywork. My power board and circuit is in top condition and my power outlet has been there for a long time but again anything could be defecting the tv. I even went to a repairman and technician who charged me more than 60 dollars for the look and said there was no problem. No capacitor bulges or leaks. I tried unplugging the power outlet after 10 seconds, after an hour, after 12 hours, and after a day. I doubt if it'll work after a week. So i know the tv isn't overheated. Most likely i have reason to assume my tv is not catching a signal from our yard since the power outage (not power surge, difference). Last time this happened was too afraid to turn my tv off because i was afraid the tv would not turn itself on again. Is it a problem with how i am plugging my wires in the power outlet, the remote, or could it be bad signal? Can someone give me a reason as to why this may cause my television to malfunction or have manufacturers defect and how i can fix it without having to check the back of the tv or go to a repairman!
Quite a long "description". "How can I fix it without having to check the back of the TV or going to a repairman?" (I altered the spelling etc a little there.)
Answer: Go to the internet and search for "Magic TV Repair Wand" and let me know if you find one---
Why do you gotta be an a**hole? If you don't know, then don't answer it.
He's not being an a**hole! Admin Andrew has a link on here that describes fixing your own TV, unless you have the proper test gear, and the knowledge to use it, it's a guessing game as to what can be wrong, I'm a semi-retired repair tech with a degree in electrical engineering and repair shop owner with 40 + years' experience and have seen hundreds of people try to repair their own sets and in many cases cause more issues by not knowing what they're doing. I will help you diagnose your set although not sure it will help. 1st question, you took the TV to a service center, did they hook the set up and it worked? Is this the reason you say "there isn't anything wrong with the TV"? Another piece of info that's missing is the model, I know it's an older set as you said "digital TV" comes up on the screen, that would mean it's around 10 years old as newer sets don't display that. You say the power supply is in "perfect condition" how would you know this?? Have you tested the various voltage rails and they tested within specs? A capacitor doesn't have to look bad to be bad, and then there are the other 100 plus components that would need to be good for the voltages to be correct. Going by the fact the sets works ok once you get it on as long as you don't shut it off I'd lean towards capacitor issues, try this, put a hair dryer close to the vents in the back and let it run for about 15 mins to warm up the components on the inside of the set, turn the set on and see if it comes on, if it does your "perfect power supply" isn't working so good. If the set still doesn't come on this points to an EEPROM issue(part of the main board), but in either case you will need to replace a board to get it working again. To answer a couple questions, the TV will work with no input signal and will display the input source selected on power up, also you can't hook the power cord up incorrectly, it will work with it reversed if you can even reverse it.

The power surges have probably blown the fuse in the power supply board. This may not be the only problem. If you are still under warranty, you will need to have it serviced at a service center. If not You will need to find a repair person or center to open the unit and test it for you. This television and all your electronic equipment should be protected with surge protectors. The reason is your power company has problem with power outages and this will damage your equipment. There is no built in self defense for this equipment due to the huge variants involved with power companies. You should call Insignia and ask them where you can find a authorized service center. You can call the Insignia customer support at this telephone number 1-877-467-4289. Tell them the model number of your television and the problem you have had with its failure to turn on.They will be able to help you find a service center to test and repair your television. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Although a capacitor may look good, it may be weak or bad. Here is what you will have to do. Replace capacitor (location) 2074 which is a 25 volt 2200Mf at 105 degrees. Replace capacitor (location) 2081 which is a 35 volt 1200 Mf at 105 degrees. And you should change capacitor 2066 which is a 16 volt 10Mf at 105 degrees. Please be careful with the last cap mentioned. You can easily tear the PCB trace if you are not extremely careful. This should bring your TV back to life. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
