Replacing a drain hose

How do you replace the drain hose on a Bosch SHU5305CU dishwasher? I have pulled it out from under the ocunter. The drain hose enters the back of the dishwasher but runs around to the front. I can't find any way to detach it, or even free it from whatever is holding it in place. I need to replace it because it developed a split (hole) in the hose near the point where it connects to the garbage disposal. Needless to say, this sprays water everywhere when the dishwasher is running. Help. Thanks, Jim

Re: Replacing a drain hose

If you remove the steel left side panel you can see that the drain hose only extends a short way into the machine. Where the hose enters the pan is a white clip that has a small square hole this clip can either be removed by pushing on it from the inside or prying the small square hole with a screwdriver. the drain hose is held in place by a black triangular clip on the plastic drain loop simply pull the clip off and slide the drain hose down then pull it out from the back of the machine.

How do I replace the outlet hose?

The exact steps depend on the make (brand name) and model of your dishwasher, but in all cases, you will have to pull the dishwasher out from under the counter. If it's an "American" dishwasher (Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, GE, Frigidaire, etc.), you will see the hose clamp that connects the drain hose to the dishwasher, and it will be easy to disconnect the hose from the dishwasher. But if you've got a "foreign" dishwasher (Samsung, LG, Bosch, Fischer-Paykel), replacement is much more difficult and should be left up to a professional dishwasher repairman.

Water wont drain

You use your dishwasher so often with no problems that any issue can seem like a major disaster. But you can fix a drainage problem with a trip to the hardware or plumbing supply store and a few minutes of effort. If your dishwasher doesn't drain properly, the drain hose is probably kinked or damaged, interfering with the flow of water out of the dishwasher. You can fix the problem by replacing the drain hose yourself.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions And 4 Tools (Material) Needed To Solve The Drain Problem.

  • Shallow dish,Pliers or screwdriver,Replacement drain hose,Replacement hose clamps
  1. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. Turn off the dishwasher's power supply by unplugging it (under the sink) or turning off the appropriate circuit breaker.
  2. Pull the dishwasher all the way out from the cabinet so you can access the drain hose and pump near the back.
  3. Locate the drain pump and hose. The drain hose is the larger of the two hoses attached to the dishwasher and is generally located close to the bottom back of the dishwasher.
  4. Place a shallow dish under the drain pump. Loosen the clamp on the drain hose close to the drain pump, using pliers or a screwdriver. Pull the drain hose off of the pump, allowing any water to drip into the dish below.
  5. Remove the other end of the drain hose from the garbage disposal or drain by loosening the hose clamp and pulling the hose off of the connection.
  6. Attach the replacement hose to the drain pump and the drain or garbage disposal. Attach new hose clamps, and tighten them to hold them in place.
  7. Turn the power and water back on, and run the dishwasher through a cycle to make sure that the dishwasher drains properly and the hose doesn't leak. Tighten the hose clamps if you find any leaks.

Water is staying in the bottom and not draining

Be sure the screen under the bottom spray arm is free of food particles. You may need to remove it to clean it. You will need to unscrew the cap, remove the arm and clips that hold the screen in place. Make sure the drain hoses are not kinked. If this doesn't help the problem, you will need to pull the dishwasher and disconnect the drain hose from both ends and flush out debris at the sink. You may need to replace the drain valve

Need to replace drain hose on bosch dishwasher model shv4303UC/11

Hi, Welocome to Fixya. You just need to remove the small plastic holding tab at the back where the hose exits the machine. Then along the left side ( from the front...right side from back ) remove the side panel and the hose will simply pull out of place. Hope that answer's your question, let me know how you make out. Thanks for visiting "fixya" today. Please take a moment to leave a comment and also rate the solution provided accordingly. Good luck. Macmarkus :)

Drain hose leaks. can i buy a replacement house

You can use generic hose.
Turn the breaker off.
Remove your unit. It may have screws holding it to the underside of the counter. You may also need to lower the front legs by turning the feet with a wrench.
Look under the machine and disconnect the drain hose. Take care as there will be water in the system.
Look under the sink and disconnect the other end of the drain.
Take to Home Depot and get a section of the same length and diameter.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
Hope this helps you. Please rate this answer if so.

There is a pass through the lower back side of the dishwasher that also has a restraining device to prevent drain hose from being pulled off of drain pump. After passing hose through this opening, connect hose to drain pump. Note: there is another restraining device built into lower plastic housing which has a finger notch to accept hose and keeps the drain hose engaged in to drain pump by not allowing hose to back out of drain pump/ hose interface.
