My e260 is saying "load main image failed switch to recovery mode" what that means

Load main image failed, this is a firmware error, (this does not have software like a computer)

Recovery mode, the player tried to recover from the error.

The player has firmware updates that where put out by the MFG because of problems.

You have to read the manual, carefully and follow it to the T.
because you need to update the firmware on the player.

This is there website.

My screen is black

Download the Sansa Recovery Tool for the Sansa e200 series and run the official Sansa Recovery Mode

Run Windows Recovery Mode

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the REC button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the REC button in. Keep holding the REC button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).

Sansa e200 load main image failed

If this happened after updating your firmware, the Sansa FAQ from here says try this -

03. "Load image failed" appears after updating e200 firmware Applies to the following Operating Systems:
  1. Windows XP, Vista
This error may be caused by the firmware failing to load or the file system is corrupted.
STEP 1 – Reset the player
  1. Press and hold the Power button for approximately 30 seconds.
  2. Turn the player back on.
If the error persists, proceed to steps 2 and 3.
STEP 2 – Connect the player in Recovery Mode
  1. Turn off the player.
  2. Slide the Hold/Lock switch on top of the player so an orange color is showing.
  3. Press and hold the REC button and connect the device to the computer.
  4. A message will appear on the device display screen confirming the connection and a 16MB partition will be viewable in My Computer.
  5. Release the REC button.
STEP 3 – Download and update the firmware
  1. Download the firmware from the Sansa Forum.
  2. Open the zip file
  3. Extract all the firmware files to the 16MB-FORMAT drive.
  4. Disconnect the player.
  5. Slide the Hold switch to the unlock position.
  6. Turn on the player

Sansa player wont turn on

To get it in recovery mode. Put the Hold switch into the lock position. Then hold REC and Power for about 10 seconds.

You need to hook up your cable after that and you can reset the firmware.

Sansa e200 won't turn on

Load main image failed refers to a bad firmware file on the device. You can download and run this recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Best of Luck.

It wont turn on

I would like to offer this solution, but this solution is only meant for the "Standard" E200 players (there are 2 types of E200 players -- the Standard E200 and the "Rhapsody" players, indicated with an "r" after the E200 such as "E260r". I'm hoping you have the standard E260. Switch your Sansa E260 to its Recovery Mode: 1. Make sure the player is powered off 2. Enable the "Hold" switch (located on the top of the player). You would know it's enabled when you see the "orange-colored" surface 3. Press the "Record" button. Make sure you keep it pressed while pressing on the "Menu" button. 4. keep your fingers pressed on these 2 buttons until the E260 LCD screen displays "Welcome to Recovery Mode" 5. Connect your E260 to your computer. (Just a reminder: The minimum Operating System requirements for a Sansa E200 player is Windows XP and above) 6. Double-click on "My Computer" and you would see your Sansa E260 appear as a "16 MB" drive. Note: If you do not see that "16 MB" drive/partition, please repeat steps 1-6. Next, Apply the firmware for the E260 (your player should be connected to your PC at this time): Step 1: Use this link to download the firmware for your Sansa E260 (for better results, please save this file on your "Desktop": Step 2: Double left-click on the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen prompts. The file will automatically re-flash your player and format it as well, thereby clearing all possible file/system corruptions that may have occurred which caused the "Load Main Image Failed" notification in the first place. Step 3: When the process is complete, unplug your E260 from your computer, and please make sure you disable the "Hold" switch Step 4: Power up your E260 and 90-99% of the time, it would boot up successfully. Step 5: Enjoy using your Sansa E260, just like I do. (I love this player)
