The whirring sound you hear may be a cooling fan, but you should only hear it when the computer is on. Here is an easy way to check: wait for the computer to turn off, and when you hear the noise press the enter key. If the computer turns on then it weasn't really off. It was sleeping. If it is a cooling fan, you can clean that yourself with a can of compressed air which you can buy a Walmart Target Big-K, or any computer store. Use the small plastic hose or pipe to blow the air through the fans in the back of the computer. Its most likely, dust/smoke/pet hair. No problem.

Why does my computer make a loud whirring sound

Could be either one of the cooling fans or CD/DVD drive. Put your hand on the outside of the disc drive, if it isn't vibrating then it's a system fan. Replace it.

My computer makes a whirring sound and plays games slowly when i've been playing a while

This sounds like a temperature related issue.
I would ensure there is plenty airflow around the pc and any vents or other openings are not blocked so the air can flow freely. if this all loks ok, unplug the cpu, open the cover CARFULLY clean any dust that has accumulated, put it all back together and test.
Please let me know how you make out.

My computer makes a highish pitched whirring noise every time it has to do something slightly difficult, typically a video or interactive things. What is it and can I fix it?

Yes, open the side cover and determine where the noise is coming from - Harddrive, fans, DVD/CD player, etc.. If it's the harddrive, start backing up your important data asap before it goes out completely. If it's a fan, power down the computer and clean the fan. If it's t DVD/CD drive, replace the drive.

Loud whirring sound

Three things spin in a computer; the hard drive, the optical drive and the fan. If there are no disks in the optical drive (open it[them]), listen close, if the noise is from the front--- think hard drive, if it is in the back--- think fan. If it is in the front, back up all your data NOW. If it is in the back you need to replace the fan, (or perhaps just clean it) before the heat fries your motherboard.

Constant whirring- fan?

The whirring sound could mean the computer is running pretty warm and the fan is working hard to cool it. Or your fan is flat out going bad in which case replace it. One thing you might try is to get a can of compressed air (BlowOff) and see if you can get some dust out that may make you computer run cooler and your fan run smoother.
please leave rating, thank you kindly

My pc is making clicking and whiring noises

It sounds like you have a hard disk drive that's going bad. Take it to a computer expert and have them check it. The "clicks and whirs" might also be a cooling fan going bad.

My coputer wont start

Do you hear a whirring sound when you press your power button? Is that sound located toward the back of your computer? If so your power supply may be ok and your motherboard has failed. If you do not hear a whirring noise then your power supply has failed and you'll need a new unit. Take it in to a repair shop or replace it yourself.
