Question about ViewSonic G810 21" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Screen flickers After turning on the monitor, the screen flickers/twitches and sometimes it seems to shrink and expands just a little bit. Is this monitor on the verge of going out or do I need to check the card or drivers? Is it worth repairing this monitor? Thanks.

Re: Screen flickers

The problem is that it is on the verge of going out my mother had a monitor go out and it did the same thing. Also if you have any high frequeny things around your monitor thatr also migh be the thing. Try a magnet or demagnitze the screen if you have one on it.

Dim monitar with flickering screen

The problem can be caused by 1 of 2 things either your power supply is going out or the backlight bulbs are going out. The most likely cause is the power supply. If you are willing to do a little soldering you should be able to do the repair. If you go to our web site at: We have a section on monitor repair. Look under the Samsung 930B it is the same as your monitor.
If you don't want to do it yourself we do offer a repair service, email me if you are in need of that.

I hope this helps.

My problem with this screen is that when I try to go to another web site the whole screen starts flickering and I can't go to another web site. Happens once in awhile, sometimes it works great and then all...

Could be a loose cable inside off the monitor. There is a cable that hooks into the back of the lcd and if that is even loose by a little bit it can make the screen act crazy. If you can get the back cover off of the monitor, try to unseat and reseat that cable to see if the problem goes away.

If you do that and it still exists then the lcd is bad and the whole monitor needs to be replaced.

My monitor works for a little while, then goes black.

Your power-inverter board needs an overhaul.
Probably in need of the standard capacitor replacement.
a bulb in the screen is bad (a bad bulb will usually show symptoms)
It will flicker, or will look pinkishish for a bit or dark in the middle top or bottom of the screen.

173v flat lcd black screen

I've had a similar problem with my 173v monitor since I bought it a few years ago. When I start my computer, Mac or PC (I've connected it to both), the screen remains black and the green power light flickers once a second, almost like it's twitching - it's different from the blink it makes when the computer isn't turned on but the monitor is. Like kronem, I have to unplug the line from the monitor to the computer, wait for the monitor to register no input, and then plug the monitor in again before it displays anything. I've never figured out a way around the problem - I hate it!

Screen rolls

I'm writing to you on a screen that is rolling and sometimes flickering right now. I've tried 3 different screens on the same outlet, and they all have the same problem.

1. If you have any speakers near your monitor, try moving them away, this might help because they might not be shielded enough.

2. Try another screen, if the problem persists, it may be your power outlet.

3. If you don't want to spend money on a new screen, spend some time looking for a 3-prong grounding adapter.

I used the 3-prong grounding adapter, those little adapters that plug into the wall using 2 prongs, and then you can plug a 3 prong appliance into them on the other site, and it helped make the rolls not appear as often, and not as dark.

I think it is something with my power or the plug I am using.

Hope this may have helped a tiny bit

Monitor seizure, (screen expands, goes out, returns to normal).

Canslim, when one of the boards heats up inside it fails, the task is then handed to the backup chipset to get you through your session. The monitor is nicely letting you know its time is almost up. You could take it in to have the boards tested to see which one(s) is failing, but that would cost more than a new one. Probably not much different than you were thinking. Hope it helped. Tim
