Question about RCA D52W135D 52 in. TV/DVD Combo
I have a mitsubishi projection tv model#cu5002k i beleive it is a 1991 model.I moved the tv and it played fine for a couple of days. Now when i turn it on the red power button will flash on and right back off,i mean on for just a split second. You can hear it clik on when you hit the power button but it goes right back off,no sound,no picture nothing. I would appreciate any help you could give me.I do not want to spend more than a few hundred dollars to fix this tv as it is an older model and newer tv are coming down in price
When this happens it means that there is an internal error and the tv is in protect mode.
The TV protection circuit detects that there is an internal problem, as a wrong voltage, a short, a capacitor that has blown or a different defectivecomponent.
After detecting the fault the TV set itself to Protect mode activating a safety switch that will prevent the TV from starting up to avoid further damage.
The safety switch that keeps turning TV off is also the clicking noise that you often hear when the TV is in this state.
If the protection circuit was wrong and there is no real problem you can fix this by leaving the TV set unplugged for a couple of hours, so to drain power completely and reset TV eeproms and protection circuit. This for example happens often after a power surge.
If that does not work, then it means that there is a real fault, in this case you will need to call a technician to test the internal parts.
I do not think you can fix this by yourself.
If you need to call service you can use the phone number listed on the owner manual.
