Wireless cannot detect any network despite claims to be working fully

Hi. My Acer Ferrari 3400 (305002 model)'s inbuilt wireless connection does not appear to be working. It cannot detect any wireless networks despite there definately being dozens in area (including my own wireless router, all of which works with other Dell wireless notebook). I have tried disabling wep hoping it would then see the network but cant. Wired LAN works fine. The system says the adaptor is fine and I have tried disabling it and enabling it, the driver is up to date. Please help as this problem has caused us a lot of trouble. Thank you. Direct replies to cersei69@hotmail.com welcomed Hi, I have the same kind of problem with my Acer Aspire 3680. I have another desktop and laptop in my home and both are working properly. I did not use this Acer laptop for last one year. Yesterday when I tried to connect it with the internet, I couldn't. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the adapter from device manager. I tried to connect the laptop to the modem directly, It connects but does not pass any data. the device seems to be working properly but it does not detects any wireless network.

Try first dissabling the wired network adaptor, so as the pc is not looking for the wrong area connection. If you have used Windows to try to repair the connection the settings will be wrong for the router addreses. Go to your wireless network cards properties and make sure that on the internet protocol the obtain IP address automatically is selected. Run this flush:- Click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter. Re-start pc and type the routers address in your internet browser. Go to your router settings and ensure enable DHCP is set to automatically allocate ip addresses.

SOURCE: Wireless cannot detect any network despite claims to be working fully

I had the same problem with my Aspire 3690. It could be as simple as UNINSTALLING & RE-INSTALLING your network adaptor/card. Check the status of you network adaptor/card in the DEVICE MANAGER. Assuming you don't know were it is follow this path START > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER Select NETWORK ADAPTORS to expand the list and if there is an EXCLAMATION MARK against your installed network apdaptor that's your problem. To fix close other open applications, RIGHT CLICK it then select UNINSTALL. To RE-INSTALL go to CONTROL PANEL > ADD HARDWARE > You will see a warning re manufacturers installation CD - i ignored this and let the wizard do its magic. WIRELESS CONNECTION at last....... I really hope this works for you

The Acer Aspire One is an inexpensive laptop computer that runs the Windows operating system. The computer does come with a built in Wi-Fi receiver, giving you the ability to connect to a wireless Internet network, when available.
However, if you are having trouble connecting to a wireless network, you must troubleshoot the network connection to determine exactly what is causing the problem with the Internet.
Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.
If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.
Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.
Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.
Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.
Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire.
Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.

Navigate to the Acer Support web page (see Below) and click on the "Downloads" link.

Acer 1690 intel 2200bg.wireless often, cannot get internet despite having "very good signal strength" and "status:connected"

    Hi

If you have a good signal strength and the status shows connected then i would say you probably have some form of spyware, trojans or rootkit on the system.

I would take it to a reputable computer shop as although there is plenty of software out there which will remove this kind of stuff, it doesnt repair the damage that they do.

Can not connect wirelessly with router

The list of wireless routers that are available in Windows is very limited and the signal strength of any router that is detected is weak. This can occur when the Lite-On USB Wireless 802.11 b/g hardware and Windows are not able to fully synchronize the signal strength data. Figure 1: Example of detected wireless devices when the antenna cable wire is connected to secondary port c01153759.jpg Figure 2: Example of detected wireless devices in the same environment when the antenna cable wire is connected to primary port c01153760.jpg To correct this error , download and install Lite-On USB Wireless LAN Driver Update (sp35177) (in English) from the HP Web site. This update should only be applied if your PC has the Lit-On USB Wireless LAN adapter and is exhibiting the symptom. As a work-around, you can connect the wire that runs from the wireless antenna port to the primary port on the cord as follows: CAUTION: This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.
    1. Open the side panel.
    2. Find the wireless networking board by following the antenna wire connected to the wireless networking antenna port on the back of the computer. Figure 3: Wireless networking hardware c01153761.jpg 1 - Wireless network board 2 - Antenna wire 3 - Wireless networking antenna port
    3. Very carefully, disconnect the small wire from the board by gently pulling the end of the wire away from the board.
    4. Connect the wire to the other available port on the board. Figure 4: Available port c01153762.jpg
    5. Replace the side panel, connect the power cord, turn on the computer, and use the computer again to verify that wireless signal strengths have improved.
