I have not my Epson Stylus Photo for quite some time. Now I want to use it again, I 've put in some new cartridges. The print shows repeating (green) lines. Any idea what could be the problem ?

To help complete the pattern, feed copy papers to the printer and do atleast 40 blank photocopies and afterwards clean the head and check the nozzle.if it has not improved, repeat the same procedure until the pattern completes.mine also had the same problem but after doing that, it was solved for good.
NB: Command copies without putting any printed paper to save ink.

DESCRIPTION OF SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
Toner save mode
Reduces toner consumption by approximately 10%.
Power save modes
The unit has two power save modes of operation: preheat mode and auto power
shut-off mode.
Preheat mode
When the unit enters the preheat mode, the power save indicator will light up
and other indicators will remain on or off as before. In this condition, the fuser in
the unit is maintained at a lower heat level, thereby saving power. To copy from
the preheat mode, make desired copier selections and press the start key
using the normal copying procedure.
Auto power shut-off mode
When the unit enters the auto power shut-off mode, the power save ( ) indicator
will light up and other indicators except the ONLINE indicator will go out. The auto
power shut-off mode saves more power than the preheat mode but requires a
longer time before starting copying. To copy from the auto power shut-off mode,
press the start key. Then make desired copier selections and press the star key using the normal copying procedure.
Auto clear
The unit returns to the initial settings a preset amount of time after the end of copy, or
scanner job. This preset amount of time (auto clear time) can be changed.
Stream feeding mode
For description of the stream feeding mode, see "Stream feeding mode".
Resolution of AUTO & MANUAL mode
You can set the copy resolution used for AUTO and MANUAL ( ) exposure
mode.

I bought a used Lexmark Optra SC 1275 a few years ago for a home office. It took a LONG time to spool up and for some jobs it just took forever, so I really didn't use it much after I got it. I...

Hi Robert

In short....Sticking Transfer roller solenoid..

Lets start with HERE is the service manual, you will need it to understand me, no fear it is free today;)

and THIS is your PARTS manual

What the machine is trying to tell you is written on page 61 of service manual aka transfer roller aint lifting

The problem is SL5 its a soleniod (page 30 of your parts manual)

Yours works but sticks, what goes on as these age is there is or was a little pad that stops the metal from clicking when the arm of the solenoid hits home. a solenoid is just a spring loaded arm that is moved by a electro magnet, when the electro magnet it "turned on" the arm moves to the magnet and allows the transfer roller to turn, what yours is probally doing is when it is turned on there is a delay cause it is sticking so the whole timing goes out of whack. The pad on the solenoid goes all gunky and holds back the arm from getting attracted instantly to the magnet, You need to clean the underside of the armerture of SL5. Metho or alcohol is what i would use, but you need to get into it and do it properly and get rid of the sticky junk on the solenoid, no lube required, just clean, Read the manuals I gave you regarding SL5 and the transfer roller.

.I dont think it is a tray problem is is to do with image transfer not paper feed so using the bypass (manual feed) wont help you, but to use it just tell the printer driver in your windows/printers/propertys to use MP tray.

You want to print 1000 pages,!!!
i think it is more economical to use a print shop than fork out for the consumables like belts toners paper drums, once you work out the true running cost of machines compared to high volume machines made for the job, you tend to lose out everytime. In my understanding it better to wear out someone else machine let them take the heart ache and expense of keeping quality supplies up to printing big runs, but thats only my educated understanding, in truth I make more from you buying toners and drums endlessly;) rather than paying 10cent a print or whatever. Work out your running costs, factor in toners, drums, fuser, belts, feed rollers and paper. Get the life of each one and divide it up into per page, you will end up 10 - 20 cents per page. Use original supplies not aftermarket if you dont want to cost yourself more than you save by using crud. Its easy to sell crud aka aftermarket recyle save the planet heaps cheaper printer consuamables but it creates 90% of my service calls @ 120/hour and wrecks machines most days from saving a buck, in the end I take all the savings and customers go off to buy another machine only to do it again when some salesman entices them with cheap promises...

anyway enough of the reality I see but you did ask for my thoughts......, get into that solenoid and clean it up, you should be right.. oh and the forever to spool, try a different printer driver like a postscrip one or something if my guess is right and your forever to spool issue is when you are trying to print Adobe PDF files;)

cheers

My colors are printing separately, divided and do not overlap or blend. I use a Roland 540 printer, and I have replaced chips, motherboard, and encoder sheet. What would cause this?

If a gap is present decrease the value by going to Menu, Calibration, Setting and pressing the Down Arrow to decrease the percentage shown to match what setting is best on the test pattern. Press Enter to save the value. If the printer does not show multiple test patterns perform the Feed Calibration, Test Print again to check the results.
If an overlap is present increase the value by going to Menu, Calibration, Setting and pressing the Up Arrow to increase the percentage shown to match what setting is best on the test pattern. Press Enter to save the value. If the printer does not show multiple test patterns perform the Feed Calibration, Test Print again to check the results.
Tech Tip: The Feed Calibration is a very fine adjustment meaning that an incremental adjustment of .05% or 10% is very small. Some media will require an adjustment in much larger steps.
Note: The Feed Calibration setting on the printer will be overridden by Versaworks as a default. This can lead to a very confusing scenario where the Feed Calibration setting doesn't appear to make any adjustment. Please see the next page for information on setting the Feed Calibration in Versaworks.

Once the proper Feed Calibration has been established on the printer it is important to make sure this setting is correct in Versaworks. Once Versaworks is open and a job has been loaded, perform the following steps:
A. Double click on the print job to bring up the Job Settings window and set up your media size, copies and other relevant items under Layout.
B. Select the Quality tab and Select the proper Media Type for the job. This step is critical because the Feed Calibration is tied to the type of media being used. When the Media Type is changed the Feed Calibration setting will change to the setting which is default for the Media Type.
C. Next select the Printer Controls tab on the left hand side and under Feed Calibration Controls choose Use Printer Setting.
D. Select OK to save the settings.
Tech Tip: In step C you can also select Use Custom Settings and enter in a value for the Feed Calibration. This allows for making corrections to the Feed Calibration without changing the settings manually on the printer. If you choose Use Default Media Settings or Use Custom Settings the value that has been set on the printer will always be overridden.
Tech Tip: In addition to having multiple test patterns which make for a quick and easy selection to be made the RS, XJ & AJ printer models allow adjustment of the Feed Calibration mid-print by taking the following steps:
A. Press the Menu key
B. Scroll to Calibration, Setting and pressing the Down Arrow to decrease the percentage shown or Press the Up Arrow to increase the value.
C. Press Enter to save the change in value.

Cant send nor receive faxes

dear sir, kindly follow the below instructions
Instructions
  1. Ensure that all cables are securely connected. First, make sure that the printer cable connecting your computer to your printer is connected securely. Then, make sure that the power cord is inserted into a wall outlet. Try your print job again after you have ensured that all cables are properly connected.

  2. Clear a paper jam if your printer is not responding or you are receiving a "Paper Jam" error message on your printer. To clear a jam, first open the rear output door by pushing down on the two levers on each side of the door. Opening the rear door simply makes it easier to clear a jam. Open the top cover on the front of the printer by pressing the release button on the right side of the printer. Locate the paper jam and use two hands to gently remove the paper jam. Try your print, scan, fax or copy job again.

  3. Clear stored or saved faxes if you are having trouble sending or receiving faxes. Old faxes may be stuck in the fax queue, which may be causing the printer to not respond. To remove stored faxes, press the "Menu" button on the printer and select "Fax Functions." Then select "Clear Saved Faxes." Wait for the queue to clear and try your fax job again.

  4. Remove paper from the automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray if your scan job is coming out crooked. The ADF input tray can only hold up to 50 sheets at a time. If there are more than 50 sheets in the input tray, the output may appear skewed. Try your scan job again after removing the paper.

  5. Adjust your computer monitor's display settings if your scanned image is not an accurate representation of the original image. This can be done in the "Control Panel" in Windows. Set the settings to the highest possible resolution and try your scan job again.

  6. Perform a power cycle on your printer if the previous steps were unsuccessful. To do this, turn off your printer, then unplug it from the wall. Wait a few minutes and plug the printer back in. Try your print, scan, fax or copy job again.

take care..thank you

HP 6200 without telling it to print, feeds and jams continually

I already encounter that problem lately. when you print your documents, the only response of the printer is paper jam. feed and jam.

try this tip if acceptable of your situation now.

only to do is copy your documents by edit button and then select all or highlight all that your going to print and then right to copy

and then, open a new documents page set up if needed.

and then print it without saving your file because that already save.

I guess you have used generic ink carts.

You should buy an original brother ink cart.

When done so make sure all other carts are at full level:
Press menu then start b/k copy then fourtimes arrow up (tel.index). Machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then start b/k copy. Machine will refresh ink within tubes and print head and do some power cleaning. when finished press 7 then 6 then 3 then start bk copy to run an extra power purge.
Leave maintenance by pressing 9 then 9.

Do run a quality test print.

If you re lucky the it will work again.

THERE IS NO WAY TO CLEAN THE PH OUTSIDE EXCEPT BY Power Purge (7-6-3) within maintenance mode.

If you like to save money refill ORIGINAL Carts by drilling a 2mm hole into the top (O of brother brandname) . You can leave the hole open to refill the cart next time directly without taking it out of the printer.

Mix some 3ml 85%-glycerin alc (drugstore) with 3ml of distilled water and 5 ml of DYE(!) ink and refill the c/y/m cart.

For bk mix 1 ml glycerin alc with 4ml dest. water and 15 ml bk DYE ink (shake well before refill).

This is -nearly- the exact mixture of original brother ink.
