I have a HP computer set,monitor hppavilion computer hppavilionxt919 and a hp keyboard. Is there a CD available to enter and set up the programs to activate the keyboard?

If you have latest BIOS then there is maximum chance that your BIOS will detect your keyboard. If It can not detect then go to hp website and download desire driver for you keyboard.

Upon turning on my desktop, it froze on the blue "hp" screen with the f10, escape, etc. Options. I noticed the "num lock" light was not lit on my keyboard so I purchased another one to...


Your computer is not booting, and until it does so, the "num lock" light light will not come on.
Booting requires BIOS to run.

BIOS stands for Built In Operating System and it must successfully load and run before it can initialize the keyboard and recognize the hard drive where your windows program is stored.

A number of things can cause this, including something plugged into the computer that is bad, so first, turn off and unplug the computer from the wall outlet, then label and unplug everything from the back of the computer except the monitor and keyboard.

Plug it in and turn it on again. If it loads windows, plug in the items you unplugged, such as printer, scanner, mouse, and so forth, one at at time, and ensure all work properly.

If it does not boot, Unplug the computer from the wall, open the computer case, and ensure all the various plugs and boards are securely plugged into their sockets. Gently wiggle things to see if anything is loose or not locked down properly. Avoid static damage by placing one hand on the metal case while wiggling with the other hand. Try to only touch the edges of the various boards.

If it still does not load windows, you can try to reset BIOS. The HP website lists the following steps to do this. You can enter BIOS by entering F10 at the first screen. If it does not work when your computer if frozen, then repeatedly press F10 as the computer is powering up and stop when it enters the bios setup program.

Once you are in the setup program:
1.Press the F5 function key.
2. Select Yes or OK using the arrow keys .
3.Press the Enter key.
4. Press the F10 function key.
5.Select Yes or OK to save the defaults.
6.Press the Enter key again if necessary.
The computer will reboot. If it still does not work properly, you need to take it to a competent repair person.

Solution

Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.

Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready

The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps.
Windows 98, Me, and XP

1.Click Start , and then click Run .
2.In the Open text box, type msconfig .
3.Click OK .
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .
6.If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. 7.Proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.

1.The destination list must be populated in order for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.

4.On the taskbar, click Start , Programs , or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
5.If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product. The HP Solution Center shows only the functions, settings, and support options that are appropriate for the selected HP product.
6.Click Settings .
7.Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
8.Click Scan to... Setup .
9.Click the Destination List tab.

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.

10.If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure.
11.If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
12.Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
13.Click the Add arrow.
14.Click OK .
15.Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
16.If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button.
17.If the scan still fails, proceed to Step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.

Step three: Uninstall and reinstall the software

1.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.

4.In the Open text box, type X:\setup , where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.
5.Click OK .
6.On the installer screen, click Uninstall . If there is no Uninstall option, the software installation is incomplete.
7.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
8.If the model supports custom install, install HP Imaging Device Functions to scan from the printer. The recommended install will install this feature automatically. It must be manually selected during a custom install.
9.Follow the onscreen instructions until the printer software is completely installed.
10.After successful installation, scan a document.

Step four: Service the product

If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Cannot reset defaults for HP color monitor. No reds, just garrish


Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Monitor won't stay on. Error message comes up that says "no input signal", then monitor goes out.


Problem with the monitor, monitor cable, or video output. For monitor, if you have more than one input, make sure it's set to the correct one. Try a different cable. Try a different monitor. Check your video card settings--if you see the BIOS bootup screen while it's coming up then the Windows splash screen, then monitor blanks out, it's a Windows display setting. Boot into safe mode, then change settings--
  • Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected (the top option)
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • When you are finished with troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.
