This is strange. There is no sound on my Asus A636N. Whenever I go to the volume control on the Windows mobile 5.0 desktop and turn it up so that I can hear sound, nothing happens. When I look again at the volume control, its gone right back down to zero. Its like there's something in the software thats switching it down for some reason. NOt sure how long its been like this to be honest. Maybe a month or so since I last used it! Any ideas?
The problem is related to TomTom software. There are two methods to solve this problem. (1) You can choose to install TomTom 6.1 which has solved the sound problem if TomTom V6.1 is available for end user. (2) Find “BtCoreIf.dll”in Windows directory and rename it to "BtCoreIf.old”. Then, reset the device to solve the sound problem.
well.. ive had this problem on wm5 with tt6. like everyone my btcoreif.dll and btsdkce30.dll were replaced by tomtom. i tried as every advice told me to to either delete them or replace em with originals files from first setup since i could not copy move rename or delete them since they always in use. this on a asus 636 i was stuck. i did manage to remove the dll files from tomtom cab install files but my biggest problem was i didt want to lose my almost perfect pda installation with tons of good working software. here my solution i came up with. backup ur pda with everyting on it even no sound working with sprite backup[even trial will do]. hard reset it so u have clean system again. next open the selfextracting sprite backup file. on restore above u see all selected stuff u can restore.. expand System Data expand File System now u see everything on your pda goto windows adn from the files find btcoreif.dll and btsdkce30.dll unselect these files. then restore this on your pda u will have a perfect backup restored but still have the right dlls from your rom on it.. u will have sound again.
delete this backup file and make a new one now .. it will be a perfect backup
hope this solution will help those who cant delete move or rename thse files on their pda and dont want to start installing everything from scratch
