Sanyo DS31520- high pitched whine, picture is fine

32" tv, about 4 years old. Picture is great, but there is an annoying high pitched whine, that seems to be involving the area where the video imputs ect go. If you move them around or bang the TV, it sometimes stops for a while. Any suggestions as to what is causing it, and could it be repaired by a handy person? Thanks!

Google your model number; I suspect it is a bad color wheel--lots of these sets have a fan like noise or even a grinding sound sometimes called a high pitched whine.

The part can be customer replaceable and YOUTube has actual video instructions for its replacement.

if you can get another one for a reasonable i would certainly consider that. the cost to get these lcd's fixed sometimes is not worth it. you seem to have more than one problem with the set.

It's not the picture tube(especially if image was good b4 it went dead). The high pitch noise is the power supply whinning because it's shorted or overloaded. I just fixed one of these sets - replaced the horiz. o/p transistor and flyback estimate around $120.00-$160.00

Sanyo tv making high pitch noise from loose cable connector

The noise is coming from the fly-back transformer. By moving the cable connector you move the main board. Unplug the TV and remove the back. The transformer has a red wire going to a rubber cup at the top of the picture tube. Looking at the transformer you will see a dough nut shape with a metal piece going through it .. Drive some tooth picks between the dough nut and the metal core. That should reduce or stop the ringing.

Sanyo DS31520 31" whining, high pitch screech, very annoying!

two audio out RCA type lacks a red and white. only thing I can think of is make sure nothing is connected to the outputs unless your running it to a stereo. now for the inputs are 3, video yellow ,left and right audio is white and red, make sure the yellow has yellow input rca plug. still problems take them all loose and see it feed back goes away.

No picture only a high pitch sound

Yes,it can be repaired, sometimes for no reason components fail and they need to be replaced,if you are familiar with tv service you can check the horizontal output transistor,it might have gone bad(shorted out)and is all is going to take to get the set back running, sometimes the output trasformer damages the transistor and both have to be replaced, first just change the transistor and if it blows up again then replace the transformer,if you are not too familiar with servicing a tv be safe and call for assistance from a servicer,if you take the set to them it should be expensive.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

Sanyo DS31520 went dead

If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. Squealing noise is from the power supply teling you that there is an overload condiction. The overload is shifting the operational frequency of the power supply into upper audio hearing range. Check the diodes and caps in the supply circuit and the active components in the deflection circuit. also resolder the LOPT, h-output, h-driver, and h-driver transformer. Good luck
