Question about Lexmark X73 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Cannot print unless I turn off computer and then reboot.

I have a Lexmark X73 all in one colour printer. The only way to get it to print is to set up the print job and then turn off the computer. When I turn the computer back on, all jobs in the print queue then print. However I cannot get this printer to print without turning off computer and rebooting.

    Thanks for reply. Unable to do this however as this is a printer that was given to me and I do not have an installation CD. All drivers and operating manual have had to be downloaded from Lexmark website.

I'm not a big fan of Lexmark in general in part due to their software and drivers. For me this type of behavior from their printers/software became common about a year ago, the fix being to use the more generic Windows supplied printer drivers. I would suggest that you uninstall all software the printer installed and remove all of the printers print queue(s)including any associated with the fax function. Unplug the printer USB cable from the computer, reboot your PC and reinstall the printer from scratch using your original installatin CD.

    The drivers from the web site will do just as well. Here is the link to the appropriate driver download page. You just need to select you operating system and download the approximately 20MB file.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Your printer's rollers sound like they are worn along the paper path. I suggest you taking your printer in to have a maintenance cleaning or have the rollers replaced. This will resolve your issues.

Lexmark X73 Printing Problem

When you say that your all-in-one system will copy, but will not print from the computer, this tells me that there could be a connection problem between the printer and the computer. This is more then likely a driver problem. you will need to go to lexmark and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
But this could also be a broken or loose cable.

Printer works, copier and scanner do not

you might try enabling bi-directional printer support in printer properties, if its paralell cable then it is in bios, epp or ecp.

Artcopy 55?

To resolve this error, complete steps A and B below. Step A:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\LexmarkX73.
  3. Delete the Artcopy55.jac file.
  4. Open the Scan & Copy Control Program. (Go to Start, Programs, Lexmark X73, Scan & Copy Control Program.)
    The file will be rewritten with the latest settings.
Step B:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to C:\Windows\Twain_32.
  3. Delete all folders except for the Lexmark folder.
  4. Reboot the computer.
Note: If completing the above procedure doesn't resolve the problem, JETSOFT recommend reinstalling Windows XP as a solution. (JETSOFT is the company that developed the Scan & Copy Control Program.)

Turn off computer to print

it is happening due to wrong setting.check the printer properties and change the printer settings it will work properly.

Scanner will not scan

Set this options un der Control panel Scanner and camera. If fails try this, Uninstall everything HP Installed. Unplug the scanner. Then reboot. THen install the drivers and applications. Then reboot. then insert the HP scanner into the USB.
