The monitor or lcd screen is probably going bad or the video card inside
the computer is bad. To isolate the problem try connecting an external
monitor to the laptop. Borrow a Monitor from a neighbor, friend,
relative or co-worker and connect it to the laptop. If the Borrowed
monitor displays ok without the blur and lines, then your lcd screen is
bad and the video card inside the computer is good. If the Borrowed
monitor displays the same way as your lcd screen with the blur and
lines, then your video card inside the computer is bad.
Plug in an external monitor and see if the
display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt
monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga
port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show
on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems
will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down
the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru
F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have
the icon of a display.
Have you tried to connect your laptop to external monitor?
If you get normal picture on external monitor, then you need to replace LCD screen, but if you get same picture on external screen, then unfortunately you will need new motherboard, because graphics card is integrated to motherboard.
normally the 19" resolution can support up to 1280*1024, but if it comes with vertical lines in full screen, it might indicate the panel is no longer to work and probably it's time to replace new one.
Most LCD monitors have a default refresh rate of 60 Hz. Older monitors also have limited resolution. Please check your display settings and ensure you're not using a refresh rate higher than 60, or a resolution higher than what it supports. If either one is the case, you're lucky the LCD still works.
Attach an external monitor (you may need to buy an adapter to try this) and turn on Display Mirroring in the Display preferences. If the same symptom shows on the external monitor, then you've got a video card problem. If not, I'd say you're screen has some kind of damage of failure. Sorry, but either one is likely going to require a trip to the Apple Hospital. At least with the display problem, you could use the external monitor until repaired.
Just as I got on line to this site I saw your problem being typed in and it's the exact same issue I am having with my Finepix 5000. I've owned it for all of 4 plus years with no problems and really decent photos. I'm getting a blurred image with green/magenta colors when I look through the viewfinder. When I take a photo, it shows the same. It wasn't dropped or even barely touched between the last good photo taken and this. Attached is an example of above description. I would appreciate any advise. See below.
Connect an external monitor to the laptop and see if it also has the vertical lines. If the external monitor looks fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is bad. If the monitor has the vertical lines displayed on it, then your graphics card or motherboard is bad. Your responses are intended to improve the level of service provided.
