Question about Samsung HT-BD2R 7.1 Channel Blu-ray Home Theatre System Theater System
I have purchased a Samsung 756 LCD wth Samsung Home Theatre and HDMi cable. I only get sound when watching movies but nothing with normal T.V viewing so I have to shut down surround sound and listen through T.V. Is this normal
Hi there, in order to listen to t.v you need to purchase an optical cable and plug this in the optical out of the tv to the optical in on the blue ray then select D.IN.1 on the blue ray and press mode on the remote until it says matrix . This will allow you to listen to the t.v through all speakers. hope this helps. Also remember to take the rubber protectors off the ends of the optical cable, a lot of people forget this :)

It souds like you only have your dvd player hooked up to the surround sound system, you need to find the outport on your tv and hook a caple from it to the inport on the home theatre system

I bought the optical audio cable ($15 WalMart) and use the Digital In on the DVD player to play the sound through the surround system and turned the TV speakers off. Works great! The optial audio has square ends and looks transparent with just one round shaped cable that goes from the TV to the back of the DVD player.

I submitted an earlier request trying to determine why surround sound wasn't coming through all speakers when playing my TV.
Looking further into the Samsung site I found out that you MUST connect the optical cable from the home theater unit to the CABLE BOX and not to your TV to get surround sound...I'm currently in the office but will change the connection once home...try connecting to your CABLE BOX instead of your TV and it should resolve the problem.
