Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3

1 Answer

Dead keypad My phone hasn't been dropped, and I can still receive calls, but can't access any information stored or make calls. The keypad is completely dead. According to the manual, if it were locked, I couldn't even receive calls...and I haven't locked it, anyway.

Re: dead keypad

When all else fails "reboot". Try taking the battery out for about 20 seconds. Put it back then see what happens. It worked for my problem with the phone ceasing to ring.

Cannot receive calles while any application is open 3.0 firmware jaile breaked by redsnow

3g phone or 2 g phone?
If 3g is the 3g turned on or have access to 3g?
If 2g, accessing edge network read this
The "may not be able to receive calls" portion stems from the fact that there are two types of EDGE network types, NOM1 and NOM2. When your iPhone is connected to a NOM1 network, the data transmission will generally be interrupted, and the incoming call allowed to come through. When your iPhone is connected to a NOM2 network, however, the EDGE data transfer process cannot be interrupted, and the call will generally go to voicemail.
Fortunately, there is a way to check whether you are connected to a NOM1 or NOM2 network. First, put your iPhone in field test mode by accessing the Phone application, tapping Keypad, then entering *3001#12345#* and pressing Call.
Tap GPRS Information and look at the entry next to nom. It will be either 1 or 2. If you see a 1, you'll likely be able to receive a call while transferring data. If you see a 2, you likely won't.
Unfortunately, it appears that NOM2 is much more prevalent on AT&T's data network. In fact, we've yet to see our iPhone connect to a NOM1 network. As such, we can't even state with certainty that the iPhone supports NOM1 at all.

Calls being dropped / Searching for network after returning from sleep mode

Surely you have had it for less than a year. Call your local support agent by dialing *611(verizon) or whatever number you use to access your customer support, tell them that the radio in the phone is defective and drops calls. Request them to warranty the phone by manufacturer. They will send you a new one in a box with return instructions. Fill out any information and ship your phone back. Before you do so there may be an agent of your wireless carrier in the area. Visit the store to have information transferred to your new phone.

My keypad does not work except for the on and off key. I can turn it on and receive calls as long as the phone is closed when it rings. Other than that I cannot access any of the other keys. I tried...

have you tried a master reboot? Remove the battery. Hold the power key down for 30 seconds while battery is out of phone. Replace battery, and turn on the phone. I'm not sure if this will work as it may be a defect of your keypad... however, as long as your phone can be turned on, most wireless carriers have a machine that will transfer your numbers to a new phone. (at least i know verizon does)

Network Problem

Go to and download everything you need to upgrade your software. You will also need a MINI USB data cable for this. If that doesn't fix the problem your Antenna is going out and you will need to invest in a new one. At my store I only charge about 30 bucks to do this. But, I also know of another store really close to mine that charges 45 bucks to change the KEYPAD!!!

Phone dropped in the toilet!!

Motorola has a program call phone tools that you can install in your computer and connect your phone to it. The software will copy the info from your phone and it will also load your contact information from outlook into your phone. Not sure if your phone will connect after it's been dropped in the toilet though. BTW: I bougt the program off of Amazon for about 8.00.
