Question about EA - Electronic Arts The Sims Triple Expansion Collection Vol 1 for Windows

Sims 2 Expansion Packs Crashing

Recently had a computer problem, had to re-install from scratch. I saved all my files. I had a lot of stuff that I downloaded from the EA site such as different lots, people, objects, etc.

I re-installed all my games, Sims2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Glamour and H&M Fashion. At first it would get halfway open and crash....I re-installed the last exp. pack and also installed some stuff from the internet in my main files on the c: drive, program files.....ran for a while. When I quit and came back the program crashed. Any ideas out there? Do I need to have all the downloaded stuff (from the internet) on my personal directory (My Documents) instead of with the program files? I don't mind starting my communities over, but I sure do like all the different looks that these downloaded files give me. And yes, these downloads come directly from the EA official site and I have run a virus scan.

Thanks!

Did you defrag the HDD after all the installs? if not, you need to do it at least once a month. Did you change the OS? from XP to Vista for example?

Hi. Welcome to Fixya!
You don't need to install Sims 1 and Sims 2 to be able to install Sims 3 to your computer. For the expansion packs and stuff packs for Sims 3 you need to install first Sims 3 base game for it to work on your computer. However your computer must have the system requirements of Sims 3 to be able to run it properly. Here is the system requirements for Sims 3 :
FOR WINDOWS XP

* Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
* 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

* 1.5 GB RAM
* At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least:
* Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA X3000 or above.
* 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
* 0.5 GB additional RAM

SIMS 2 UNIVERSITY INSTALLED BUT NOT LOADING UP, NOTICED PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. MY OTHER SIMS 2 GAMES ARE PC DVD ROM SIMS TWO UNIVERSITY I BOUGHT IS A PC CD ROM IS THAT THE PROBLEM WHY IT WONT...

I think university is the first or second expansion pack. I know there are issues if the expansions are not installed in order of their release. if you have say, seasons or freetime and then install university, it may not run correctly. You have to uninstall the packs or the game and re-install them in correct order. Yes, it's a big pain but I had to do it twice.
Install the SIMS2, or double deluxe whatever you have then follow this order with exception of say nightlife if you have have double deluxe because it comes with the original game.

The Sims 2" Expansion Pack Order
  • "The Sims 2 University"
  • "The Sims 2 Nightlife" included in double deluxe
  • "The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Open for Business"
  • "The Sims 2 Family Fun" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Glamour Life" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Pets"
  • "The Sims 2 Happy Holiday" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Seasons"
  • "The Sims 2 Celebration" (A Stuff Pack) also in double deluxe
  • "The Sims 2 H&M" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Bon Voyage"
  • "The Sims 2 Teen Style" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Free Time"
  • "The Sims 2 Kitchen and Bath Interior Design" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The SIms 2 Ikea Home" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Apartment Life"
  • "The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden" (A Stuff Pack)

My game, The Sims 2 Double Deluxe has what you call a bug in it that did not appear until one day when I was playing because we had all the expansion packs and the pets disappeared from the game and I went...

After installing Double Deluxe install the expansions you have in this order...
The Sims 2" Expansion Pack Order
  • "The Sims 2 University"
  • "The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Open for Business"
  • "The Sims 2 Family Fun" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Glamour Life" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Pets"
  • "The Sims 2 Happy Holiday" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Seasons"
  • "The Sims 2 H&M" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Bon Voyage"
  • "The Sims 2 Teen Style" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Free Time"
  • "The Sims 2 Kitchen and Bath Interior Design" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The SIms 2 Ikea Home" (A Stuff Pack)
  • "The Sims 2 Apartment Life"
  • "The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden" (A Stuff Pack)
your problem may be a graphics card issue. Did it work with the expansion packs or start problems when you installed the expansions?

maybe this link will be helpful if the above does not work.

I ininstalled sims2/double deluxe because I didn't want it because I got the sims2pets. but I found out I have to have the sims 2 double deluxe to install the sims2pets. When I enter the installation code...

Make sure there is no sims 2 content on your hard drive. if there are any EA folders on your comouter either in program files or in "my documents" delete them. Then try installing Double Deluxe again. Then you can install pets.
Pets is an expansion pack for the Sims 2 base game. Other expansion packs are University, Seasons, Free Time, Bon Voyage.Open for buisiness and Apartment Life...If you plan to get other expansion packs you should install them in order of their release to avoid future problems. Nightlife expansion is included with Double Deluxe.

A simple google search for sims 2 expansion packs will show you the correct order to install and descriptions of each pack and what they add to the game. Seasons lets your sims go fishing for example. They can cook the fish they catch, and also plant gardens, and experience the changing seasons from summer to winter.

Sims and sims 2 on external hard drive?

It works great, I had to do the same thing. All you have to do is save it to the external drive. yes all the programs and expansions need to be on the external drive.

When it asks you if you want to put it on the C:/programs/simms as it always does, just change the "C" to what ever drive your external drive is. do this with each game.

You will me living like a simm in no time. Let me know how you did..

Wrong disc??how can i solve it??

Try uninstalling the orignal and expansion pack. If you have any other expansion packs uninstall them aswell. Install it all from scratch. If the problem doesnt subside, check your System Requirements, it may be that your computer doesnt support the data from Sims2.

Sims 2 installation

You must install the expansion packs in a semi-fluid order. That is, there was an order they were released and for best results, you should install them in the same order.

http://compsimgames.about.com/od/expansionpacks/qt/sims2_exporder.htm

The above site is the order of the expansions. Keep in mind, it starts at the top and goes down (oldest at top, newest at bottom). You must use the latest most expansion pack's disc to play. That means, if the last expansion pack you have is "Seasons", you will need to use that disc to play the game.

Due to copyright laws, I'll be unable to assist you in how to play the game without the need of the discs but in essence, the above information will at least get the game installed with the expansions in the proper order. You and your friend may just be unable to play the game at the same time.

This link tells you what files to back up and where they are located. I would also install one exp at a time and reboot so the system is updated.
