Question about Televison & Video
It seems that your LG Plasma fly back is damaged or ICs that supplying power to fly back are blowup there for it supply unmanageable waves to picture tube. You will take Hardware repairing for it.

The loud pop sounds like it may have been one of the capacitors in the power supply board. check for a POPPED cap (rare) and if there is one, test the components in the related circuit - as SOMETHING had to happen to make a cap fail like that - maybe a voltage regulator? give it a look..
