DELL 1501 inspiron wont start up right

When i turn on my laptop it starts up okay in the beginning up intil you choose a user profile then when its loading the profile a window comes out saying that a file cant be found and the option of clicking ok and when you press ok it continues opening the profile but only the wallpaper comes out. none of the programs show up on the desktop ..the start menu doesnt come out either even if i press the start menu button it doesnt come out . the only thing thats comes out is that window with what your running when u press ctrl alt delete. but thats it i just see a wallpaper...i think it may have a virus or somthing because it was working fine then my cousin turned off th firewalls for like a few seconds then turned thenm back on. so i think it may be that but i dont know what to do i think i may try n reset the whole thing but i dont know how does anyone know what may be wrong with it??

Ok well u may have a worm in your system !

the easyest way to solve your problems is to do a full re-install of the operating system

do you have a dell restore cd/dvd ?

put it in the optical drive and turn power on then press F12 key until you get a boot up menu select cd /dvd drive and press enter

this will start the install of the operating system

Hapy trails.

My Dell 1750 Inspiron laptop will power up, then my user profile appears, I enter the correct password and the screen says ''The User Profile service service failed to open the logon'' ''User profile...

It seems like the user profile is not working.
You can try to start computer with safe mode with command prompt (by pressing F8 while starting the computer) and then activate administrator profile (by typing : net user administrator /active:yes) in command prompt and after that you can create a new user profile.

Let me know if it will not work.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 and receive the STOP: 0x0000007E error message

That usually denotes a Hard Drive error, or the like. All is not lost though. Try this..... Startup PC, press F8 at instant of turn on... choose Safe Mode. when you are asked if you want safe desktop or system restore choose restore, when you get to the restore menu, choose a date BEFORE you had problems there may only be one or two to choose from. just follow the instructions and you should be back to working with all that behind you.
If this doesn't work I have given you a link below to help you further if needed. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330182
