There is a positive stop at 45 (and other angles). When I set it at the positive stop for 45, make 8 cuts to form the 4 sides of a frame, I find ou that clearly the 45 stop does not cut a 45 degree angle. Each joint has a gap of significant and very visable amount as it runs from the ooutside to the inside of the joint.

Are you having problems with the miter or bevel ? Are you asking how to physically move the saw to that degree angle?

How to adjust saw to cut a perfect 90 degree and 45 degree cut

I would go to Makitausa.com and download a manual. what you have aproblem with is either a bent fence or just misalignment. simply all you need is a good square, put the head at 0 degree and check to see if out, making sure not to put square on the teeth of the blade, if it is out there are 4 13mm bolts that hold fence in place loosen them and starting from the left side put it at the exact dead nut. snug the bolt and then check the right side. I usually check them 3 times for accuracy when you are confident snug all the bolts and recheck. Let me know if you need more assistance

I have a LS1030 that is about 14 years old. The saw is not cutting square and am wondering if there is an adjustment to the indexed stops for the angle of cut

go to Makitatools.com and type in your model number and click on the owners manual section, on page 18-19 it gives instructions on how to set the fence and that should solve your problem. If I have helped you with your request would you please rate this response accordingly. Thank you.

I cannot get a perfect 45 degree angle with my Makita circular saw. Is it me or the saw??

When using the gauge on your saw it is off on the 45 degree cut? If so you might have to use a tri Square every time you want to cut a 45. Sometimes the lock gauge for the 45 angle may be off some. When you put a tri square on the board you cut it is not a true 45 even though the saw says it is?

Makita chopsaw when cutting angles blade is cutting table

You can adjust the location where the blade drops into the groove in the table. Look on page 24 of this manual and you will see exactly how to adjust the table:
